Black Eyed Peas Singer becomes the 109th Olympic Torch Bearer

He's now the 109th Olympic torch bearer, and he tweeted about his experience while he walked the relay. Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am joined the Olympic torch relay across the UK on Monday (May 21). Carrying the Olympic flame through Taunton, Somerset, to the delight of onlookers. Will.i.am became the 109th torchbearer, and made the most of the opportunity. During the walk Will.i.am tweeted about the experience with one hand while holding the torch in the other. He even performed a brief moonwalk in honor of Michael Jackson. Afterwards he spoke of how happy he was to take part, and his personal connection to the Olympics. [Will.i.am, Black Eyed Peas Singer]: "That was like, a surreal moment. You know I remember in 1984, the Olympics in Los Angeles, and me being a little Will, watching it on TV, wishing I could be at the Olympic Games, and I had that flashback when they handed me the torch to run through Taunton, so it's like a blessed moment, and a surreal moment, and a I-can't-believe-it moment all at the same time." The Olympic torch is currently on a 70-day tour of the UK, before arriving back in London for the start of the Games. From: NTDTV Views: 486 7 ratings Time: 01:23 More in Sports

On average, people squander forty days annually compensating for things they've forgotten. Joshua Foer used to be one of those people. But after a year of memory training, he found himself in the finals of the US Memory Championship. Even more important, Foer found a vital truth we too often forget: In every way that matters, we are the sum of our memories. Moonwalking with Einstein draws on cutting-edge research, a surprising cultural history of memory, and venerable tricks of the mentalist's trade to transform our understanding of human remembering. Under the tutelage of top "mental athletes," he learns ancient techniques once employed by Cicero to memorize his speeches and by Medieval scholars to memorize entire books. Using methods that have been largely forgotten, Foer discovers that we can all dramatically improve our memories. Joshua Foer was born in Washington, DC in 1982 and lives in New Haven, CT with his wife Dinah. His writing has appeared in National Geographic, Esquire, Slate, Outside, the New York Times, and other publications. He is the co-founder of the Atlas Obscura, an online guide to the world's wonders and curiosities. He is also the co-founder of the architectural design competition, Sukkah City. Moonwalking with Einstein is his first book. From: AtGoogleTalks Views: 1437 22 ratings Time: 52:18 More in News & Politics
