Activists say stray animals are being killed as cities prepare for the summer Euro 2012 matches. Ambassador for the European Association of Defense of Animals, Princess Maja von Hohenzollern, visited Ukraine on Tuesday to help improve the fate of stray animals. Activists say the animals are being euthanized in cities set to host Euro 2012 matches this summer. Four Ukrainian and four Polish cities will host Euro 2012 matches starting in June. Animal rights activists say in those Ukrainian cities, animals are being killed as the authorities attempt to beautify their cities. They became concerned about the animals' welfare when images of stray dogs being poisoned, buried alive, and even burned in mobile crematoria were published on the Internet. During her visit, the princess assisted in several dog sterilization surgeries at an animal centre in Kiev. [Princess Maja von Hohenzollern, European Association of Defense of Animals]: "I am pleased that we are on the right path, that people have realized that is the only legal and the most effective way and that the killing must be stopped." She also met with the Union of European Footbal Associations' (UEFA) representative in Kiev to enlist his help in protecting strays ... Sarah Obama, President Barack Obama's grandmother, is home recovering from an accident --- Police in the town of Kisumu say the 87-year-old was traveling to her home Saturday night, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled into a ditch --- All five people in the car, including her two bodyguards, were taken to a hospital for treatment --- All were released with minor injuries ### On Monday, Georgia's top court struck down a state law that restricted assisted suicides, siding with four members of a suicide group who said the law violated their free speech rights --- The Georgia Supreme Court's unanimous ruling found that the law violates the free speech clauses of the U.S. and Georgia constitution --- Defense attorneys said it means that four members of the Final Exit Network who were charged in February 2009 with helping a 58-year-old cancer-stricken man die will not have to stand trial --- Georgia law doesn't expressly forbid assisted suicide --- But lawmakers in 1994 adopted a law that bans people from publicly advertising suicide, hoping to prevent assisted suicide from the likes of Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the late physician who sparked the national right-to-die debate --- The law makes it a felony for anyone who publicly advertises, offers or holds himself out as offering that he or she will intentionally and actively assist another person in the commission of suicide and commits any overt act to further that purpose --- State attorneys said the law doesn't infringe on the free speech rights of people who support assisted suicide, but only those who take concrete steps to carry one out

Human Cost of Producing an iPad in China: Apple Consumer's Reactions
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me It all started with a few preloaded photos of Apple's suppliers in China that a couple of iPhone owners from the UK found on their brand new iPhones in 2008. The photos have since gone viral. It was not until then that some consumers realized that Apple products are not made by robots. The New York Times reported recently on the harsh work conditions at Apple suppliers in China. Now some consumers are saying they would rather pay more for the products. A recent New York Times report on the cruel working conditions inside Foxconn Technology, and other Apple suppliers in China, is getting a lot of attention. The report says employees assembling Apple products often "Labor in harsh conditions...work excessive overtime, in some cases seven days a week, and live in crowded dorms...Some say they stand so long that their legs swell until they can hardly walk." Moreover, workers also face serious safety threats, sometimes deadly. Two explosions caused by aluminum dust last year at two Foxconn plants killed four people and injured 77. Two years ago, 137 workers were injured after they were ordered to switch from rubbing alcohol to a toxic chemical, n-hexane, to clean iPhone screens. In recent years, there have been reports of workers jumping from dorm buildings in apparent suicide attempts due to harsh management practices. [Masco Calbone, Tourist]: "Safety comes first ...
