Following the failure of the congressional "super committee" to forge a deficit reduction deal, congressional leaders say they're planning to reconvene the group under a different name.

Paul Simonon former bassist for the Clash says that he was jailed for two weeks after an undercover Greenpeace protest. Paul was part of the crew on a Greenpeace vessel and worked under an assumed name as an assistant cook on the ship. He was one of 18 protesters held by police in Greenland in June after storming an oil rig in speedboats to demonstrate against the rig in regards to an oil spill disaster. Martti Leinonen said Paul's secret was very well kept and that he made excellent vegetarian food.
British singer Adele underwent throat surgery at a Boston hospital to stop a recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage that forced her to cancel all of her recent tour dates. Performing the surgery was the same doctor who worked on Steven Tyler's vocal cords… so he must be good. According to Adele's blog, the operation was a success.
Courtney Love took the stage with Hole in Brazil recently and went into a tirade against Dave Grohl when a fan held up a picture of Kurt Cobain. She also made a speech about The Smashing Pumpkins lyrics claiming that all the songs on Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness… are about her. A group of parents found a truckload of rotten food, believed to be for the school cafeteria. The discovery has triggered a massive street protest. Here's more. A primary school in China's Guizhou Province has allegedly been serving rotten food to students for lunch. Last Thursday, some parents of students at the Dongfeng Primary School discovered a truck full of rotten food%mdashbelieved to be for the students. The cabbages and green peppers were rotten and smelly%mdashthe eggplants withered and the pork was of poor quality. Angry parents unloaded the decaying food and left them in the middle of the street. The discovery sparked a massive street protest. Thousands gathered outside the school gate. One parent said that her child suffers from nausea and diarrhea and couldn't eat for a week. [Parent]: "If it gets worse, it could lead to food poisoning, which would surely affect the children's health. If it's not stopped, it could affect the children of the future, or develop other diseases as a result, or severe food poisoning." Volcom Europe 2011 Wild In The Parks Sweden

September is witp season over here and this year was no exception. On friday we packed up the car and headed south to Swedens skate capitol - Malmoe. During the summer they have rebuilt the whole park and just three days prior to the WITP they reopened it. If the "old" park was good this one is insane!
We opened the doors at 11 and kids started signing up right away to make sure they got the free t-shirt and the chance to go away with a ton of prices and a ticket to the upcoming finals in Denmark. (which is only a 20 min train ride away from Malmoe.)
As always we started out with the qualification for the -14 category. Every year we just get amazed how good the kids are becoming. With 45 kids entering this category we did three heats to decide which lucky 15 would end up in the finals.
After the -14 it was time for the 15 and over category. To some of the kids in +15 Bryggeriet Skatepark is actually their school yard since they attend the skate program at Bryggeriet Highschool. Their teachers is doing an amazing job. The kids rip!!
In the ProAm it was time for the heavy hitters such as Herman Stene, Fernando Bramsmark, Didrik Galasso, Slomo Andersson, Christian Sandell among others to enter the park. Three heats later we were blown away by the level of skating we just witnessed. The judges had a really hard time picking the lucky 15 for the finals.
After a well deserved lunch break with plenty of drinks and Bryggeriets great sandwiches it was time to kick off the finals.
Once again we were blown away by the kids in the -14 category. They were killing all three obstacles during their 15 minute final. It´s gonna be very interesting to see what guys like Jacob Stein can do in a few years. I´d guess we´ll see them in the ProAm division. That´s how good they are!!
In the +15 category the "Bryggeriet-school-kids" once again made their teachers proud by absolutely ripping the park apart. Insane level! In the end it was Simon Isaksson who walked away with first price, a ton of products and a ticket to the finals in Copenhagen.
We ended the day in best possible way - the Pro Am final. If the judges had a hard time up until now this was going to be a nightmare. So much good skaters! Well, check the video and you´ll see…. After a long judges meeting to decide Top 5 it was history repeating from the Norwegian witp with Herman Stene in 1st place. What can you say!?! The kid is insane!!

Three students have died after eating contaminated school lunches and many others remain hospitalized. Investigations are underway. Lunch time turned deadly at a Peruvian school on Tuesday after three students were killed, and as many as 120 became ill after eating government-provided lunches. [Relative of Victim]: "I think it was poison because all the kids are purple from all parts of the school. I suddenly think it was poison. My little boy has died. My nine-year-old boy, Miguel Angel has died." The contaminated lunches left some of the children so ill they were rushed to nearby hospitals along with a number of teachers and parents who were also sickened by the tainted food. Some sources say the lunches may have been tampered with and possibly laced with rat poison or some other toxin. [Miguel Zumaeta, Paramedic]: "It looks like it was a carbonates intoxication, which means rat poison. There must have been a moment of carelessness while it [the food] was prepared because that's the only change that has been referred to according to the teachers.
