SSX (2012) - Patagonia Introduction Trailer
Welcome to Patagonia, home of Fitzroy and its 3375 meter dead-drop, where players can expect gnarly snow-covered slopes and drops. ABOUT THIS GAME ************************ SSX, the latest installment of the classic action snowboarding franchise in development at EA Canada and due to be available in March 2th 2012, for PS3 and Xbox 360. Previously known as SSX: Deadly Descents, SSX will pit riders versus both mountain and man. Players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet. The team will travel the world to face the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. From the peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that riders have to descend through the death zone at breakneck speeds to keep from blacking out, to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica, where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. And the mountain isn't the only danger players will face. In SSX, the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it. Wintersleep - "New Inheritors": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
Breaking with past traditions of leaving albums unnamed, Halifax indie-rock bookworms Wintersleep returned in Oct. 2007 with their third full-length Weclome To The Night Sky. Recorded close to home at Halifax's Sonic Temple by producer Tony Doogan (Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Super Furry Animals), Welcome earned the band a Juno award, radio and video play for the single "Weighty Ghost", and it was picked up for release in the US, Europe and Japan. As a result, the staggered release of the album kept the band on the road for the better part of 2 and a half years. In those years, the three original founding members Paul Murphy (Vocals, guitar), Loel Campbell (drums) and Tim D'Eon (guitar, bg vox) spent more days together in a moving vessel than they had in all the days since the release of the first album in 2003. It's no wonder then, that the songs for the band's May 2010 follow up, New Inheritors was born on the road. "We were touring constantly, so I guess we jammed ideas for this record pretty much everywhere. We have folders with different jams marked down by the cities they were worked on in... LA, Seattle, Milan, Belfast, in Japan, Stellarton Cottage, Hamilton, ON... we sorted it out whenever we had time. It came together in Montreal eventually, but yeah, these songs have touring legs." While touring the new album, Wintersleep performed shows with The Hold Steady in the UK and America, traveled throughout Canada, and made an appearance on The Late Show with David ... Studio Guest: Marie-Christine Ostermann from German Association of Young Entrepreneurs
[LESS INFO] 15 VIEWS | ADDED 22:30:00 06/07/11
This week's studio guest is Marie-Christine Ostermann from German Association of Young Entrepreneurs (BJU) DW-TV: One example of how a company helps its staff to further their careers and really supports them in that. What role do you think does that plays for other industries, do you think this could work for other industries as well? Marie-Christine Osterman: Yes of course, further education is very important for companies because you have to be attractive for applicants and employees. And especially for smaller and medium-sized companies it's quite hard to get good employees because they're not as well known as big companies. So they really have to promote further education and advertise those activities to be attractive for people. DW-TV: Can you speak out of your own experience in your company, you're in the retail industry, can you tell us a bit about that? Marie-Christine Osterman: Yes we have a very interesting trainee program for young people and we really need skilled workers but it's quite hard to find them because our educational system is quite bad, there must be more competition and more quality and people don't have a good general knowledge, no commercial background and sometimes they even don't know the company name they're applying for. So it's quite hard sometimes, yes. DW-TV: What do you think about bringing in people from abroad? Marie-Christine Osterman: Yes that would be a very good thing. And I don't think those people would steal jobs away from German people, for example. I guess it would be a good thing because new ideas would come into the country, innovation, and that's why I think a points system - like in Canada - would be great. People could collect points according to their qualification, language skills and so on and yes that would be a very good thing. But we also need a good welcome culture here in Germany, people should feel welcome here. DW-TV: So you think it's down to bureaucratic hurdles as well that we don't get all these qualified staff? Marie-Christine Osterman: Yes, regulations are quite complicated and foreign degrees are not recognized quite often and yes, that's a big problem. But we really need also skilled foreign workers because we don't have enough employees here in Germany. DW-TV: But we do have a high unemployment rate, don't we? Marie-Christine Osterman: No it's not that high. But you're right, we have unemployed people here. But I guess there are enough jobs for everyone and as I said before when good foreign come into the country with innovation and new ideas then we can create more jobs - even for the Germans. DW-TV:What's the situation like for women, what's your experience in your company? Marie-Christine Osterman: It's quite hard for women because in Germany we need much more daycare facilities for children and all-day schools for example because women want to combine a career with family and that's quite complicated here so we need improvements. Better conditions for women, that's why I tell all politicians to work here and create more daycare facilities for children. Interview: Sabrina El Ahl
