The Foreign Resort - "Take A Walk": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist Based in the shoegaze genre The Foreign Resort has fused the dark sounds of the 80's with electronic beats, energetic drumming and piercing reverb guitars. The Foreign Resort released their debut album Offshore in 2009 and has since toured the USA, Italy, Germany and Denmark. 2010-11 counts more than 80 shows, the most notable were at the Danish showcase festival Spot 2010, supporting A Place to Bury Strangers on their European tour, playing 6 shows during SXSW 2011 in Austin, Texas and an official CMJ 2011 showcase in New York. The band has been confirmed for an official showcase at SXSW 2012 as well as supporting The Raveonettes on their Denmark tour in December 2011. The Foreign Resort have just released their self titled EP on Austin, Texas based Monolathe Recordings -- distributed in North America by Nail Distribution as well as in Denmark, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Touring the US The Foreign Resort has become part of New York's noise pop scene -- evident through rotation, interviews and live performances at 87.7FM WNYZ, 91.5FM WNYE (NYC Radio) and East Village Radio. Several college stations across the US have also put The Foreign Resort in rotation. In their review of the Spot Festival appearance Gaffa Magazine described The Foreign Resort as: "The Cure embedded in noise with Tears For Fears-ish melodies and the energy burst of Joy Division.
