This movie focuses on Peter Parkers identity. As he discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance leading him to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The movie will be released everywhere on July 3rd. After a successful international opening a week before, The Avengers was finally unleashed upon American audiences and it SMASHED the competition. Despite not being able to break the midnight screening record and most of the industry prediction an opening in the $160 million dollar range, The Avengers smoked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2's previous $169 million opening weekend record by taking in an earth shattering $200.3 million over 3 days. Not only did the film become the biggest opening ever in the US, but also broke records in several other markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Hong Kong and New Zealand. The global take for the Marvel team-up is estimated at $641.8 million in just 12 days in release. It's global take has already surpassed the lifetime global box office of 2010's Iron Man 2. It goes without saying that this summer is all about the superheros taking over the big screen. And while we have ways of tracking which will do best, do we even care? At the end of the day, if you are going to see the avengers, chances are, you will also be seeing the bat---and the spider. Regardless, We do believe we should inform you that Marvel and Disney are showing a much larger prerelease than the dark knight or the hunger games, meaning...the superhero ensemble could have an opening weekend that far exceeds The Hunger Games $153 million opening. Experts are even guessing Joss Whedons ensemble flick may be the biggest domestic openings of all time for a superhero pic. Which makes total sense considering the majority of our favorite superheros are all crammed into one epic, action packed movie. That record may not last long though, as The Dark Knight Rises is still over 3 months away, so tracking and box office could end up surpassing that of The Avengers. Avengers begins rolling out overseas April 27, a week ahead of its domestic launch of may 4th. Even though I really think both flicks are worth the trip to the theatre, I have got to ask...if you could see one and one movie ONLY this summer...would it be the avengers or the dark knight rises? The book to film adaptation had the third-best debut of all time and the best for any film opening outside of summer. This didn't come as a major shock as Suzanne Collins' novel is a top seller! The flick starred Jennifer Lawrence,Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth and also the biggest opening for a nonsequel. What does this mean for the actual sequal? Astronomical numbers my friends. HEres what Lionsgate President of Marketing Tim Palen had to say about the films already monumental success "It was the perfect storm. Having the first film in a franchise to be so gigantic is amazing. We had a great book and a great director inGary Ross." I was out one weekend driving around and I was way out in the country, way out in the middle of nowhere. I came to an intersection. There was two dirt roads and I came to this intersection and over there in that field there was a shipping container. A shipping, ya' know, what you see in a port and I kinda' looked over and a person walked out of it. Another person walked into it. This container was the local cellular office where you could buy a phone, get your card recharged, turn your phone in for repair, just talk to somebody about a problem if you wanted to. If you hopped over the counter, there was a wall. Behind that wall was the local cellular switch that provided service for this area and just outside the shipping container was a mast, a radio mast that provided a wireless connection back to the nearest exchange or central office. When I talked to people at the local cellular company, what I learned was that they went to one of the big shipping companies on the coast over at Durbin, over on the east coast of South Africa and they said, "We need 500 or 600 of these containers and we need you to put them in all of these locations and we don't wanna pay for them." Of course the company said, "And this is good for me because?" They said, "Well because we're gonna use them for housing infrastructure for telecommunications. We're gonna give people telephony.
