Outlive Your Life, Part 10: Does God Have Favorites?
[LESS INFO] 9 VIEWS | ADDED 13:40:07 05/17/12
Part 10 from the Outlive Your Life (formerly Bigger Than You) Series at Oak Hills Church San Antonio. This series takes a walk through Chapters 1-12 of the Acts of the Apostles. “When Jesus was preparing to return to his father, he commissioned his friends to go—to astronomically expand the impact of their lives.%nbsp He called them to action in Acts 1:8;%nbsp to a mission that spanned the globe. “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Our mission is the same today, though our individual areas of impact vary.%nbsp So I invite you to ponder your place in the mission:%nbsp Where is your Jerusalem? Your Judea? Your Samaria?%nbsp Are we reaching “the ends of the earth?”%nbsp Are we being witnesses of Jesus in our towns, our nations, and our world? The world is waiting for the witness and presence of God’s people.%nbsp Billions of people live below the poverty line, millions of children go hungry around the globe, and preventable disease claims thousands of lives daily.%nbsp But we each have the opportunity to make a difference.%nbsp What would happen if we seized the moment?%nbsp ~ Max

Ancient Chinese Traditions on Display in Russia
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me For thousands of years, the arts and culture of ancient China have inspired the rest of the world. That tradition is still being carried on in one small town in Russia. These are Zhostovo trays, named after the small village of Zhostovo. About 20 miles north of Moscow, this tiny town has been keeping alive a big tradition. For nearly 200 years, locals have been making these trays. [MVLebedev, Art Director]: "Peter the Great went to Europe, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands where he saw those beautiful lacquer wares made in China and Japan. He liked them very much and took some of them back to Russia, in the hope of making similar handicrafts in St. Petersburg. He even brought in craftsmen from the UK and the Netherlands who made handicrafts similar to those made in China." The trays are still made and painted by hand. Flowers are the most common theme. [Tonia, Moscow Resident]: "The painted flowers are so beautiful that they seem almost real. I want to touch them with my own hands and smell their fragrance." A single tray takes days to make, and must be completed by a master painter. From: NTDTV Views: 142 10 ratings Time: 00:58 More in News & Politics

Drakes Passage - Taking it to the streets of Brazil - Episode 15
In this episode, Drake visits Sao Paulo, the most populous city in the Southern Hemisphere. His first night in town, he grabs a bite at a hip former butcher shop and gets his disco on at a local nightclub. After a morning dip in the hotel pool, he's off to sample feijoada, the traditional Brazilian cuisine. Drake walks off his meal at Beco do Batman, a neighborhood that welcomes local street artists to add to the dynamic colors on literally every wall and stops at Tag and Juice, a bicycle and art space. Rounding out his second day in town, Drake hangs with a group of friends, talks bikes and ends his night with a cruise around town. Stay tuned for the next episode. Want more Drake? Never forget quake memories, says Japan's Akihito
www.euronews.com Exactly a year on from the enormously destructive earthquake and tsunami, Japan has commemorated the events of that day in ceremonies around the country. Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko led a minute of silence in Tokyo's National Theatre at the precise moment that the 9.0 magnitude tremor unleashed a wall of water that ravaged the northeast coast, killing thousands. The country is still grappling with the cost, both human and economic. "It is important that we do not forget the memories of this big earthquake and pass them onto our descendants, so that readiness for natural disasters is fostered and we can make progress towards building a safer country," said the Emperor. As well as dealing with the emotional aftermath of the the disaster, Japan is still in the grips of the nuclear fallout from the crippled Fukushima plant. Residents from a nearby town, abandoned afterwards, returned home for a few hours to pay their respects to those lost 12 months ago. Tens of thousands of people evacuated from the area may never be allowed back to their homes. TEPCO the operator, much criticised for its failure to prepare for the disaster, has issued a fresh apology, vowing to work to solve its problems with safety as first priority. Once again the terrible images of the ocean invading the land are prominent in people's minds, as Japan slowly recovers from the tragedy that left some 19000 dead or missing. Greensky Bluegrass - "Don't Lie": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
If you're familiar with bluegrass music, then you're tuned in to some of what Greensky Bluegrass does. They're also known to throw a great party, rock n roll, and (if the critics are to be believed) they have great songs. They are unquestionably a team of friends that traverse the country making music they enjoy. What makes Greensky different than Bluegrass? Poignant rural ballads about real people? Dobro tone that Jerry (Douglas or Garcia) would love? Distortion Pedals? Grit and attitude from a whiskey soaked card game? Indeed, but that\'s just the tip of the iceberg. This quintet from Michigan has been staying up late at all the coolest festivals and stopping to play your favorite clubs and theaters across America for 11 years now. Nearly 175 shows per year has prepared them for the rigorous task of continuity. Greensky Bluegrass isn't slowing down. "They're coming to your town to help you party down." Yeah. Really. Like you never thought possible. At the start of the millenium, some of these guys met, then they met more guys. They thought Greensky was a clever name for a bluegrass band. Fast forward to 2011 when they recorded their fourth studio record, called Handguns. Among them, words like, "proud," "killer," and "damn right!" have been spoken in regards to the music of Handguns. While they all may be accurate, we hope you'll find far more than you expected, hell - even more than we expected contained in this piece of work that may well come to define one of 21st ...
