"http://chris.pirillo.com/how-to-install-chrome-os-using-parallels/ - Have you considered getting a Chromebook, only to have the sticker shock of what amounts to a glorified browser OS make you think twice? If you have virtual machine software installed, you can likely give Chrome or Chromium OS a test run and see if it's something worth investing your money in. For users of Parallels, installing Chrome OS is a matter of finding the right drop-down menu and making a single click. If you're thinking about buying Parallels 6, you can save money on it here: http://go.tagjag.com/parallels Have you tried Chrome OS yet? Three Games You Can Play in a Browser

"http://chris.pirillo.com/five-great-games-made-possible-by-html-5/ 5 has opened the door for a lot more innovation on the part of web app developers. One example of this innovation can be found in the new web-based version of Angry Birds. Now, instead of having to play the game on an iPad, iPod Touch, or through a special app, you can play it using Chrome or another HTML 5 capable browser. Another great example of a fun web app is Isle of Tune which allows you to create music using virtual streets and cars which activate sounds as they drive past objects along the side of the road. So, the third game is yours to name. What fun web apps have you enjoyed playing with on your browser? Please leave a comment below with the name and what you like about it. The Angry Birds web app can be found here: http://chrome.angrybirds.com Isle of Tune can be found here: http://www.isleoftune.com/ http://chris.pirillo.com http://lockergnome.com http://twitter.com/chrispirillo"

"Choosing a main browser is something important. You need to make sure that what your surfing through is safe and reliable. Thats why i believe that deciding which browser to use is something very important. I have just briefly mentioned a few points about each known browser. And more specifically, Chrome and Firefox. Internet explorer is terrible. Thats the simplest way i could put it. Whereas firefox and chrome, seem to compete in a way. Hopefully this video has showed you what i think about the browsers!"

What Do You Think about Google Chrome?
[LESS INFO] 9 VIEWS | ADDED 17:35:19 05/14/11
http://chris.pirillo.com/is-google-chrome-better-than-firefox/ I've made the switch to Google Chrome after trying their development builds for some time. Syncing across multiple computers and a growing amount of extensions have made a strong case for this transition. You can opt to use Chromium, which is the open source project behind Google Chrome.

A Look Back at My Predictions for 2010
[LESS INFO] 1595 VIEWS | ADDED 00:13:59 12/30/10
I'm Walt Mossberg; shut up.
A year ago, I laid out my predictions for 2010, and said that one year later, I'd review them. Well, today is one year later, and I'm about ready for a nice, goopy mouthful of some claim chowder. Ready?
1. The iPad will change the face of computing.
I said the iPad would change the face of computing, and jeezum crap, it did! Millions have purchased the iPad, and then thrown out their old, useless computers in the face of such staggering innovation.
I said the sales of the iPad would be just under 7 billion. I'm going to say that 8 million is, in fact, just under 7 billion. ;
2. No one will care about the Nexus One.
Another win for me: while the Nexus One was a well-reviewed phone, it sold like crap cakes, and now it's dead. Google's since learned that they're good at search and OS building, but goddamn terrible at selling phones directly to customers.
3. Paul Thurrott will get a job at MacLife magazine.
While notorious Windows-bigot Paul Thurrott didn't end up on the payroll of MacLife, I'm going to call this prediction a hit based on a recent column where Thurrott admitted that Apple is the biggest and most important tech company in the world; if that's not an application to work for a Mac magazine, I don't know what is!
4. Steve Ballmer will somehow get even more bald.
This one doesn't even require more explanation. He's so bald!
5. Microsoft will announce a subscription OS, but no one will care.
I said that Microsoft would announce a subscription-only OS, but that no one other than journalists would use it. I'd like to introduce you to a little device called the Microsoft Kin; absolutely nobody cared about this lump of junk!
6. Chrome OS will be a failure.
Last year I said that Chrome OS will be a failure. It's so much of a failure that it hasn't even been released yet! Case closed.
7. Techcrunch will get bought by AOL.
I think I was the only pundit on the planet who called this one, but I did, right down the smallest detail. Look it up, unbelievers!
8. Leo Laporte will Kill Robert Scoble.
This is my only miss of the year; I said that king of the internet Leo Laporte would kill Robert Scoble with his bare hands. What the hell happened, Leo? Do you have any idea how much money I'd laid down on this one? You told me it was a sure thing. Make it happen, you loveable bastard! Kill Scoble dead!
--
As you can see, I got a staggering 90% of my predictions right. Truly I am the only technology journalist in the world.
Come back next week for my predictions for the year ahead; they're sure to be perfectly accurate.
This has been Walt Mossberg; shut up.

Why Do You Use Google Chrome? is a post from Chris Pirillo

Someone in our live community recently asked what I feel the advantages – and disadvantages – are for using Google Chrome . We are talking about the web browser in this instance, not the operating system. Google Chrome is built upon the Chromium foundation, as are Flock and RockMelt.
One advantage of Chrome is that they are constantly releasing new versions. It’s not going to disappear into obscurity. Google’s entire business model IS “the Web.” They are going to do their best to continue to try and build the best browser possible. There’s seemingly always a new beta version available, proving further that they are evolving on a regular basis.
I honestly can’t come up with a disadvantage, unless someone doesn’t want statistics sent back to Google. There are occasional crashes, as well, but yeah – EVERY browser has that problem at times. Is there anything you can think of?
What are YOUR thoughts? Is Chrome a good choice – or not?

Firefox 4 Thoughts and Review is a post from Chris Pirillo

This week, Matthew is going to give you a little preview of Firefox 4 Beta 7. He wants all of you to see why he believes Firefox is most definitely still in the running for best browser available.
The only issue Matt has seen is that Aero crashes when he opens this Beta. Mozilla has integrated a lot of new features and a nice speed boost. One of the nicest inclusions is the way you can organize your tabs now. This gives you a visual overview of all open tabs, allowing them to be sorted and grouped. Additionally, your tabs are now on top by default.
You can search for and switch to already open tabs in the Smart Location Bar. There’s a new Addons manager which makes it much easier for you to sift through your extensions and decide what you want to enable, disable or update. The Bookmarks Toolbar has been replaced with a Bookmarks Button by default (you can switch it back if you’d like). And, the stop and reload buttons have been merged into a single button.
There are many other improvements to this already powerful browser. Have you checked out the new beta yet? What are your thoughts?

Star Wars LEGO Slave 1 Review

Star Wars LEGO Slave 1 Review is a post from Chris Pirillo

The Slave 1, as you know, is the vehicle that you will find Boba Fett riding around in. The LEGO version is well-made, easy to put together and comes with several cool little weapons.
I put my LEGO Star Wars Slave 1 together with a minimum of fuss and muss. There are three bags of LEGO bricks included and they’re numbered. As you follow the assembly instructions, you only need to open one of the bags at a time. You’re not faced with hundreds of little bricks from the onset of the build. That makes it nice for those of you who are anal about sorting your pieces prior to starting. You don’t have to!
The Slave 1 features an opening cockpit that rotates when the startship is rotated. It includes Han Solo, Boba Fett and Bossk minifigs. A Carbonite element holds Han Solo for transport, but you can pop him out easily whenever you wish. There is a secret compartment with a flick-firing missile repeater and side components with flick-firing missiles. You want to give these a light – yet firm – flick in order to make them fire properly.
If you’re an Adult Fan of LEGO, what is your favorite recent build? Do you build from kits, or do you freestyle it and come up with your own creations?

Google Chrome OS -- First Look
Although I promised myself I wasnt going to spend time running Googles Chrome OS right now, I got the bug. Thanks to gdgt who put an image together, Ive spent about 15 minutes tinkering with it in VirtualBox. Chrome OS is definitely bare-bones right now and slow in a VM, but any performance judgements should be considered irrelevant right now. Two thoughts came to mind as I got my hands dirty: who is this for and what can make it successful. As far as the first question, Chrome OS is for someone like me %mdash someone who spends 98% of their day in a browser. Or it could be for everyone else, provided they use it in the manner intended. Is it meant to replace a daily operating system for most people? No more so than a netbook would be a replacement for a high-powered workstation. Its simply not that kind of tool. Chrome OS is intended for quick access to the web on a portable notebook-like companion device. Think of it as the environment and device youd go to when you dont want to boot up a full OS but you want a larger screen and keyboard than your smartphone has. So what can make it successful? There are several factors, but one of the key ones is what makes Firefox so useful %mdash extensions. As Mozillas browser has shown, you can do quite a bit in a browser with the right tools. And oddly enough, while Chrome OS doesnt yet support extensions officially, youll see in my video that I have a few installed anyway. Thats my first look and first thoughts. Ill have plenty more to say ... From: KevinCTofel Views: 6045 14 ratings Time: 08:41 More in Science & Technology
