Cisco Live UK Day 5: Bloodhound Super Sonic Car
This is Cisco Live UK: Day 5 So we've had an absolute blast over the last 5 days here in London at Cisco Live. We saw thousands of visitors, customers, and industry thought-leaders. One of the most unique things we saw was the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car (SSC). This car is part of a project to break the land speed record by traveling at a target speed of 1050 miles per hour! The project's mission is to "To confront and overcome the impossible using science, technology, engineering and mathematics." That's quite a mission statement! The Project Director is Sir Richard Noble, who also took part in a keynote address at Cisco Live UK. In the video below, Peter Granger speaks to Jonathon Cooke, who was displaying the actual SSC and its jet engine on the event floor. Jonathon is studying Mechanical Engineering at Bath University and is one of the 'Ambassadors' for the project (part of the 'Ambassador's Program'). Cisco has provided equipment (Networking and Video Equipment) to help develop the Bloodhound SSC vehicle and its technology center. This is a great example of how Cisco is helping in the manufacturing industry with R%D and enabling Innovation and product development cycles in manufacturing. No explanation for the illegal carry-on items seems to have been given. A New Zealand national, Harper Alexander Ralph, was arrested in possession of three live cartridges for a .22mm gun. The bullets were found during a security check at an airport in Udaipur district of India's northwestern Rajasthan state on Tuesday. The 21-year-old Ralph, who is in police custody right now, has been booked under violation of the Arms Act. [Pawan Singh, Dabok Police Station]: "Three 0.22 live cartridges were recovered from his handbag and the police were told. A case has been lodged against Ralph under section 3.25 of the Arms Act." Police officials have taken Ralph's fingerprints and other details. Ralph says the cartridges were not detected earlier as they were in his check-in baggage while coming from New Zealand. [Harper Alexander Ralph, Arrested New Zealand National]: "From New Zealand they were not detected because they were in a check-in bag, and so they were not detected. My toilet bag was in my carry on.
