The Expedition For the Future
Google Tech Talk January 4, 2012 Presented by Jason Rodi ABSTRACT blog.thenomads.com "To reiterate the project, I have chartered a great ship, the HANSE EXPLORER, to traverse the sub-antarctic seas from Cape to Cape (Cape Horn, South America, to Cape of Good Hope, South Africa). Our journey will bring us to Bouvet Island, the furthest uninhabited island in the world. Weather permitting, we will attempt a climb to it's summit, an extinct volcano. I wish to bring three poles of human awareness on the trip, three people representing knowledge, philosophy, and creativity in the goal of returning with a vision of the future. From February 8th to March 12th 2012, The EXPEDITION for the FUTURE will travel from the end to the beginning of civilization. It would be an honour if Google joined us in creating this vision of the future. My goal is to produce a television documentary about the journey, an interactive book authored by the three poles, and an educational experience for museums and planetariums. With Google's involvement we can maximize this great content opportunity even more." From: GoogleTechTalks Views: 1742 10 ratings Time: 19:13 More in Science & Technology

Jon Kyl introduces the Arizona Wallow Fire Recovery Act
"After a fire like this, there's only a short window of opportunity to hasten forest rehabilitation, to reduce the risks of flooding and insect epidemics and future fires, and to capture at least some of economic benefit from the dead and dying trees to help pay for those restoration costs." --US Senator Jon Kyl speaking on the Senate floor to introduce S. 1344, The Arizona Wallow Fire Recovery and Monitoring Act, legislation that would expedite the removal of hazard, dead and dying trees in the community protection management areas in the Wallow Fire area -- Arizona's largest forest fire on record. I'm back after taking the summer off to work on training Able and Roxi. It's been a great summer and I've had a great time with the dogs. I hope you have been following me on my Flickr site!
In this episode, I feature a video from Pablo Mac on one of his more interesting caches called " Blame Game ". It's quite the cache.
Also, there's lots of news from the BC Geocaching Association site including a province wide cache placing event and an interview on a major network.
All this, plus a couple of ideas for future episodes.
Watch and Enjoy!
