It is a great pleasure to welcome my dear friends in Plain White T%rsquos to the JBTV studios for an exclusive performance on our high definition sound stage. A lot has changed for all of us in the last 11 years, but it%rsquos safe to say more has changed for these kids from Villa Park.
%ldquoHey There, Delilah%rdquo catapulted the band onto a worldwide platform, reaching the elusive #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart and nudging their record %ldquoEvery Second Counts%rdquo to Gold certification status. But, as you%rsquoll see this week on JBTV, one of my favorite things about the T%rsquos is that they%rsquore still as humble and down to earth as they were when then played house shows in the 90%rsquos. After countless world tours, the band is back with a brand new album (out this week) called %ldquoWonders of the Younger,%rdquo and they%rsquore debuting some of their live material for the first time this week... only on JBTV! And yes, they%rsquoll play a show-closing version of %ldquoDelilah."
Our other featured in-studio artist this week is another one of our hometown favorites, The Frantic. If you%rsquove watched JBTV at all since last March, you%rsquove heard the band (whether you know it or not) every week as they perform our show%rsquos intro theme song. You know the one; %ldquoJ-B-T-V!%rdquo It%rsquos about time we have these dudes featured properly on the HD sound stage. Having worked with the band dating back to my years on Q101 radio, I%rsquove said since the first time we spun %ldquoAudio and Murder%rdquo that The Frantic is bound for enormous things and I stand by it more today than ever. They were 17 then. They%rsquore pushing 21 now. They%rsquore growing up and their songwriting is growing up with them. They have incredible energy, charisma and stage presence and we%rsquore thrilled to bring you this week%rsquos JBTV exclusive studio session with The Frantic!
Hosts Toby Jeg and Brendan Kelly are hanging at Bottom Lounge with Alkaline Trio frontman Matt Skiba. JBTV gives you an all access pass to Matt%rsquos sound check before his solo show last month, complete with unseen performance footage. Plus, Skiba gives us the scoop on the Trio%rsquos forthcoming record.
Jenna Martinelli is backstage at Metro with OK Go, marking their second 2010 appearance on our show. They%rsquore that good! We, of course, talk concepts with the band best known for creating some of the most inventive music videos of the past decade. Jenna even talks the guys into dancing for the JBTV cameras.
Toby Jeg and myself are on location with the guys from Man-B-Que. What is it? Meat. Beer. Rock and roll. We grill. We drink. We rock. That%rsquos it. 3 simple things and 1 insane can%rsquot miss party!
And our namesake, Jerry Bryant, takes us back in time for a classic in-studio segment with Kill Hannah. It%rsquos another exclusive performance, filmed in our downtown Chicago studios in 2006. You won%rsquot %ndash and can%rsquot %ndash find this anywhere but JBTV!
