Learn more about Personal Democracy Media at personaldemocracy.com Across America and the world, millions of people are entering the public arena and, using social and collaborative media, forming powerful new networks for change. The result is a rising wave of challenges to the political order that are expanding the boundaries of political discourse and forcing new issues into the conversation. At this event, we heard from leading organizers and observers of these new movements, and explored questions like: -Are these movements leaderless, or leaderfull? And either way, how do they make decisions? -Are these movements working within the system or trying to create a new one? -Getting co-opted: A danger or a sign that you're winning? -Is a group still its own worst enemy? -New media and over-communication: how do these movements manage the cacophony they help create? -Is networked democracy to top-down politics what citizen media is to broadcast media? Kobe Divorced; Tebowing Gets Students Suspended; Cart Runs Over Championship Coach
[LESS INFO] 0 VIEWS | ADDED 11:15:48 12/19/11
I'm Lynn Lumpkin CRWENewswire Sports Commentator. This is the the Sports Corner. On Friday Vanessa Bryant, Kobe's wife, filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce after more than 10 years. December 1, she signed the papers, and the Los Angeles Lakers star filed his response on Dec. 7. In a statement, the couple's representative said, "The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a Judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012." And in high school football, Tyler and Connor Carroll, both students at Riverhead High School, received one-day suspensions Dec. 14 for dropping to one knee, making a fist and bowing one’s head, also known as Tebowing, in the school’s hallway. Tebowing seems harmless but the act had serious repercussions for two Long Island high school student-athletes. School officials said the the students were not suspended for religious purposes. They were suspended because Tebowing in the hallway poses a dangerous fire hazard and was making other students late to class. also, a runaway pilotless electric cart raced unmanned from an end zone to midfield at Cowboys Stadium Saturday night after a Texas 5A Division II high school football championship game. The electric-powered cart ploughed into several people, toppling Willie Amendola, coach of Spring Dekaney who was being interviewed near the Cowboys midfield star, along with several others clustered about moments after Dekaney had beaten Cibolo Steele 34-14.
