A floating man, a naked woman, and a human revolving door are just some of the surprises that make up '11 Rooms', an exhibition at the Manchester International Festival 2011. Artists such as John Baldessari, Roman Ondák and Marina Abramovi? were each given a room and asked to fill it with a new work involving the human body. TateShots went to The Manchester Gallery on the opening day of the festival to see the results.

For Ai Wewei the act of individuals voicing opinions and communicating with one another is of great importance. From October 2010 to May 2011, visitors to his piece Sunflower Seeds, currently on show in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, can record a video; either asking him their question or answering one from him. So far, over 11,500 questions have been asked. This film features a select few. Sunflower Seeds is made up of millions of small pieces, each apparently identical, but actually unique. However realistic they may seem, these life-sized sunflower seed husks are in fact intricately hand-crafted in porcelain.

Patriots running back Danny Woodhead addresses the media during his postgame press conference on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Q: Is there chemistry that needs to develop between you and BenJarvus Green-Ellis? DW: I think we have chemistry in our whole running back room. I don't think it necessarily needs to be one person. Definitely, the running backs are a tight knit group and I think we feed off of each other. Q: Does it have to be that way when you are playing little parts here and there? DW: I don't know if it has to do with that, but football is a team sport and we are a team. We have to work together no matter if it is a running back, receiver or linebacker. We are one team and we are doing this thing together. Q: Talk about that touchdown run... DW: When you get a crease or a hole it makes things a lot easier. The offensive line, receivers, tight ends, everyone [was] blocking doing their job and it makes it a lot easier for the running back. I just try to do what I do and run the ball and when you have great people around you it makes things a lot easier. Q: It seemed like you had your hand down to kind of steady yourself. At that precise moment did you think you would make it to the end zone? DW: I wasn't thinking about it. I was just trying to stay up. There was another receiver on the outside that had a great block for me and that's all I needed. Q: Was that the [Deion] Branch block? DW: I can't remember if it was Branch or [Brandon] Tate there. It was a great block and without that I wouldn't have been in the end zone. Q: You made the tackle on the kickoff right after the touchdown. Do you remember that play? DW: Yeah I do. I didn't black out or anything. That's my job, I play on the kick-off team and when I went out on the field I tried to do everything possible to get to the returner. I am going to do everything possible on every single play whether it's on special teams, on offense, or first, second, or third down or whatever. Q: Playing in ...

We preview the first UK exhibition of the French artist Niki de Saint Phalle, which opens this month at Tate Liverpool. Beautiful, flamboyant, daring, provocative and fiercely independent, she emerged in the 1960s as a powerful and original figure in the highly masculine international arts world. The exhibition includes her acclaimed Shooting Pictures , made by firing a .22 rifle into bags of paint strapped to a canvas, as well as her brightly coloured, exuberant sculptures of enormous women, which she christened the ‘Nanas’. Muñoz described himself as a storyteller, and often arranged his figures and objects in carefully staged configurations that hint at unsettling and ambiguous scenarios. One of the last things he made before his untimely death in 2001 at the age of 48 was a vast stage-set-like installation for Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall. Now Tate Modern is presenting the first major retrospective of his work in the UK. Curator Sheena Wagstaff offers an overview of the exhibition.

Paul Nash served as an official artist in the Second World War. His painting Totes Meer , German for ‘dead sea’, was inspired by a graveyard for wrecked aircraft at Cowley in Oxfordshire. Journalist Simon Grant visits the site to explore the origins of this work and discovers that as well as being a compelling memorial to the ravages of war, it may symbolise a more personal history of lost love. Totes Meer is currently on display at Tate Britain.
