Week 3 Multimedia Project - Musical Theory and Education Applications: For this project students were asked to memorize and record Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues, paying particular attention to the techniques they used to commit the quick-paced, rap-like lyrics to memory. This lesson explored how rhythm and rhyme can help students memorize information and how such techniques be applied across various educational settings.

Without anything witty, original, entertaining, or even rude and
inflammatory to write, I offer another round of links. Enjoy them,
click on them, and decimate them to all your friends. It's what all the
kids are doing.

Border. A film project.
"We distributed hundreds of disposable cameras to two groups on
different sides of the U.S.-Mexico border: undocumented migrants
crossing the desert into the United States and American Minutemen
trying to stop them."

Bird's Eye Tourist . A great site utilizing Windows Live Local locations
to bring you shots of all your favorite places, and then some.
Theme Parks , Celebrity Homes, Crime Scenes ...You know what I would
like to see? Shots of industrial pollution. I went to Google to find that
story I recalled reading about activists in Mexico (I think) who
documented large scale pollution of the Gulf by using satellite imagery
from Google Maps. What I found instead was...

..this. Sprol . Worst Places In The World. "Sprol shows the visual
macroscopic effects of the decisions and behavior of our society."
Using satellite imagery, the site documents all manner of
environmental degradation.

Salon has published the Abu Gharaib photos . "Most of the photos
have already been seen, but the Army's own analysis of the story
behind the photos has never been fully told. It is a shocking,
night-by-night record of three months inside Abu Gharaib's notorious
cellblock 1A, and it tells the story, in more graphic detail than ever
before, of the rampant abuse of prisoners there."
Although the mainstream media has stopped following this story
with any gusto, Salon claims the CID has renewed their efforts to
revisit this scandal.

AOL TV is streaming complete episodes of classic television series!
Eight is Enough, Wonder Woman, Welcome Back Kotter, and even V !!!
Does anybody else remember that show, V? About Aliens, who ate
live, white mice for lunch and dinner? Hahaha! I loved that show.
A full list of the vintage television shows you can view is here .
Awesome!

Jamendo . A website that promotes musical artists, and allows you, the
user, to listen to and freely download any tracks posted by artists. I
spent a hot minute lookin around , and am excited to spend more time
their. The site seems to have a large international base, and allows
you to search by album, concert, artist, and best of all, thru tags .
Hundreds of tags, so whatever fits your fancy, hip-hop , ambient ,
whatever. I'm telling you, this site is a treasure trove of hot music
you haven't heard. I predict this site is going to be getting huge
traffic soon, if it isn't already.

Hahaha! Stare at the spiral for 30 seconds , and than look at an object.
So cool, just like eating shrooms.

Uh-Oh. YouTube is pulling videos down with some alarming frequency.
There was a video up on their site that showed a five year old boy
doing his own rendition of that Dylan video, Subterranean Homesick
Blues. This boy, at five years old, had memorized the whole song,
and sang it while discarding pieces of paper, tossing them on his
living room floor just as Dylan did in the song. It was adorable, and
amazing, and now it's gone. Taken down for copyright infringement !
Wow. Seriously? I'm no lawyer, but singing a song by another artist, on
home video, is copyright infringement? (skeptical eyes)
Thankfully, I Googled it, and found that WFMU is hosting the file on
their site . Take that, Copyright Lawyers!

So that's it for this installment of 'wasting time while the world burns
all around you'. See you next time.
