GOP roundup: Craig Crawford on Santorum trouncing Romney and Gingrich at Minnesota caucus
"Countdown" guest host David Shuster and political blogger Craig Crawford discuss Rick Santorum's sweeping victory at the Minnesota caucus and whether Mitt Romney's massive campaign budget is paying off: "The silver lining for Romney here is, with Santorum doing so well last night is that conservative vote is still getting split -- assuming Gingrich can stay on life support. Greek PM In Crucial Meeting With Party Leaders
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos has called in the country's political leaders as he scrambles to sign off a 130 billion euro rescue package. It's a last ditch bid to avoid a chaotic default and possible exit from the euro. Greece's Prime Minister Lucas Papademos was on Sunday still scrambling to try and prevent cash-strapped Greece from sinking into a chaotic default. On Saturday Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos said Athens was on "a knife edge" and had only until Sunday night to clinch a deal with lenders and political leaders on a 130 billion euro rescue. The default would take effect in March when big bond redemptions are due. This morning Papademos met with the so-called troika monitors from the European Central Bank, European Union and International Monetary Fund, to try and agree on at least a preliminary deal of reforms included in the bailout. The extensive talks have failed to resolve the thorny issue of cutting wages and spending. As the troika monitors left the building, Greece's political party leaders descended on the prime minister's office. Convincing party chiefs in Papademos' own national unity coalition to back the reforms demanded by the lenders is perhaps the even tougher task. The conservative New Democracy and the far-right LAOS party in particular have staunchly opposed further wage and spending cuts. Euro zone ministers said ... Foggy Florida Pileup Leaves One Girl Without Family, Country Or Health Insurance
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 00:00:27 02/02/12
On Saturday morning Lidiane Carmo woke up in Florida, where she was attending a church conference with her father, mother, and sister. Carmo was the youngest in her family, and they had traveled to Florida with her pastor father, her aunt, uncle and cousins as well as several other other church members.
On Sunday morning, Lidiane woke up in a Florida hospital with broken bones and internal injuries after the van they were traveling in was involved in Sunday's horrendous highway pileup on I-75 near Gainesville, Florida. Her father, mother, sister, uncle, aunt and cousin were killed. She is the sole survivor in her immediate family.
Lidiane's parents came to the United States from Brazil 12 years ago, bringing five-year old Letiticia and three-year old Lidiane with them. They had legal visas which have since expired.
Lidiane is now an orphan. She has no health insurance. She has no legal status to remain in this country. And she has no family beyond those remaining members of her father's church. She is the sole survivor.
If we had a DREAM Act in place, Lidiane could petition for citizenship here since she entered the country legally. But we don't, and because of Republicans' insane need to pander to bigots and racists, we're unlikely to see it without a completely different Congress.
I'm writing about Lidiane because she puts a very human face on what they're doing when they block the DREAM Act. I wonder if any of these crazy Republican candidates could gaze into her frightened, hurting eyes, and tell her she has to go back to a country she doesn't even know. I think they could, and that should concern us all.
Congress forced a clause into the Affordable Care Act which excluded undocumented immigrants from coverage. The exclusion wasn't simply from federal funds for subsidies. They are barred from purchasing insurance on the state-based exchanges and the national exchange. Barred. Even if they pay with their own funds. Barred.
Today a 15-year old child is in a hospital in Florida, suffering from severe injuries, bereft of her family, in Rick Scott's state. What will become of her?
Atlanta Journal-Constitution: >
As for Lidiane's status, one expert had reassurance for her friends and surviving relatives.
Charles Kuck, an Atlanta immigration attorney, told the AJC that Lidiane would not be deported because of a federal law granting special status to juveniles. Lidiane can become a ward of the state and be issued a green card, allowing her to stay, Kuck said.
"This child will be fine," Kuck said. "She's clearly an orphan at this moment."
But the Brazilian consulate was not as reassuring: >
At the church Tuesday night, a representative from the Brazilian Consulate in Atlanta addressed crash survivors and others in the congregation.
"I want to give you my love and our support," Ana Claudia Rodrigues, deputy consul general for the consulate, said through a translator.
But when crash victims asked about help, Rodrigues said she could only convey their concerns to the Brazilian government. Immigration issues are not up to the consulate, Rodrigues said, but the U.S. government.
"She didn't answer any of our questions," Weberson Barbosa, a crash survivor still on crutches, said Tuesday night. "We need someone to really view our pain and take action."
Lidiane's family, before the crash Yes, they really do. I wonder. Would Ron Paul tell this family to rely on charity? Would Mitt Romney tell this family to rely on charity? Would Newt Gingrich summon the neighborhood council to testify to Lidiane's character? Oh wait. She hasn't been here long enough.
Something is really broken in a country where a 15-year old child can suffer like this while politicians preach family values and American exceptionalism. Really broken.

Shenzhen Businesses Start Chinese New Year Facing Forced Demolitions
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me For most Chinese, the Year of the Dragon is meant to be auspicious and prosperous. In southern China, though, hundreds of businesses are starting the New Year with their livelihoods buried under the rubble, after a land developer forcibly demolished parts of a shopping complex on the Lunar New Year's Eve. A group of shop owners in southern China's Shenzhen are facing a bleak start to this Year of the Dragon. The shopping complex where their businesses stood is being destroyed. The forced demolition started early Sunday morning, on January 23%mdashthe first day of the Lunar New Year. The three-story oval complex in Longgang district has housed hundreds of businesses for 20 years. Locals say a land developer has been eyeing the prime realty for some time. Shopkeepers have resisted the developer's land grab attempts, but on the eve of the New Year, the developer started the demolition. It was deliberately masked by the sound of firecrackers. Shop owners who tried to stop the crew were met with violence. [Mr. Yu, Family of Injured Shop Owner]: "He was injured after a dozen people beat him with steel rods. If no one stopped the beating that night, he wouldn't be in hospital now...but somewhere else. Still, he was beaten severely. He has broken bones on his body and his head...he's still undergoing check-ups. It looks like there's skull damage." Eyewitnesses say 1000 riot ... Team Me - "Show Me": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
If you believe bloggers, journalists and people all around the world, Team Me from Norway is one of the hottest newcomers of 2011. And it all started out as an accidental success when Marius Hagen and his private, little side project Team Me ended up in a Norwegian national radio-battle for new and unsigned bands. Marius quickly had to get a band together and Team Me made their live debut in January 2010 at the finals of the contest. Marius ́ little secret is not so easy to hide anymore. The world seems to fall in love with this six-piece indieband and their rich orchestrated music and unique live shows. Still surprised by the attention the band started doing live shows and releasing singles which led into the Team Me EP that was released the winter of 2011 by Propeller Recordings. The EP, which received great reviews, peaked at # 92 on the American CMJ top 200 with a base of solid airplay on different American radio stations, as well as Norwegian and European radio. 2011 saw Team Me playing a lot of concerts at events like The Great Escape in Brighton, Club NME in London, Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg, Iceland Airwaves, %Oslashyafestivalen, Berlin Independent Nights and many others. Ruin's New Name and New Alan Wake News - Press Pause Daily

Ruin is Ruin no longer and new Alan Wake details.
SHOW NOTES:
Story 1:
The launch of the Playstation Vita is rapidly approaching, and one of the most anticipated games coming to the system is Ruin. This action RPG lets you play across both your Vita and your PS3 with the same save.
Well according to a story on IGN, Ruin is Ruin no more. News has come out that the game will now be called Warrior’s Lair. This isn’t a large surprise to most since it was already know that Lair was just the working title for the game.
Which begs the question: Is Warrior’s Lair a better name than Ruin?
As long as the came still kicks major ass, I could care less what they call it.
http://uk.vita.ign.com/articles/121/1216315p1.html
Story 2:
We’ve been talking recently about the upcoming release of the XBLA game Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. Well here are some new details about the game.
Developer Remedy recently dropped some details about the game’s plot, as well as information about the game’s length.
The story involves the in-game Twilight Zone-esque show Night Springs. It seems that early in his career, Alan Wake wrote episodes for the show. He has now become trapped in one of those episodes, which takes place in Arizona.
Remedy also stated that the full game should take gamers about 4 to 5 hours to play. They said it might take a little longer depending on how much of the optional story content they want to explore.
All of this just makes me want the game more than ever.
February can’t get here fast enough.
