Yelle DJs - "Comme Un Enfant": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
YELLE is a French dance-pop act founded in 2005 and fronted & named by Yelle, nee Julie Budet. First official single, "Je Veux Te Voir" a rather obvious slam of French rapper Cuizinier, was posted on MySpace in 2006 and became an international sensation. Yelle' debut album. Pop Up was released by Source Records/Astralwerks in 2007 and was supported by an extensive 2-year tour around the world. Album number two, Safari Disco Club was released in Spring of 2011 on Cooperative Music and the kick off date of the campaign was a show at Coachella. Yelle is beyond any particular scenes with a unique pop voice & without singing one iota word in English at that, which speaks volume about her. Music truly does transcends all. "sunny french electro pop with clean lines and ice cream hooks" -- New York Times "Budet has true star energy which fires her fans into hours-long dance fests at her concerts" - SF Bay Guardian YELLE DJS is one the many performing formulas of this true stage queen. Finn Riggins - "Benchwarmers": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
Dynamic, quirky and highly energetic indie rock trio Finn Riggins has made a name for itself around the West and the greater US as road warriors from the oft-overlooked state of Idaho over the last several years. Since the release of their debut album on Portland\'s beloved mom-and-pop label Tender Loving Empire in 2007, they have averaged close to 200 shows a year in 43 states -- including a massive 80-day tour around the entire perimeter of the US in the Spring of 2010. Most of this touring has been on the backs of their DIY ethic and wide open approach to the changing music industry. In 2009 and 2010 they did three different support tours with fellow Idahoans Built To Spill. The collaborative brainchild of three music school graduates from the University of Idaho -- Cameron Bouiss, Eric Gilbert and Lisa Simpson -- Finn Riggins has always been a tough entity for the music industry to pin down. Their genre-defying approach to rock-n-roll has yielded a long stream of varied explanations for their sound over the years -- experimental pop, prog-pop, post-punk post-epic 70s rock, synth-driven indie rock, and so on. One consistent thread through most of the press raves over the years has been the fact that Finn Riggins\' sound is unique and fresh and not adhering to any particular trend, all while being accessible through pop-hooks and an incredibly well executed and fun live show. Since relocating to Boise, ID in early 2009 from the small mountain town of Hailey, ID at the ... From: sxsw Views: 168 5 ratings Time: 02:33 More in Music

[LESS INFO] 66 VIEWS | ADDED 22:54:23 03/10/11
Journalists Gail Collins and Mike Allen discuss the likelihood of Mitt Romney making a succesful bid for president in 2012. Allen argues that Romney's good looks are his best chance at becoming President because "looking the part counts in America." Collins counters, saying Romney doesn't have a chance because he flip-flops on political issues. Moreover, jeers Collins, "The man drove to Canada with his dog strapped to the roof of his car."

David Rovics Song For Bradley Manning
[LESS INFO] 0 VIEWS | ADDED 19:17:16 01/26/11
David Rovics performs his newly written "Song for Bradley Manning" in this video. Bradley E. Manning is a United States Army soldier who was charged in July 2010 with the unauthorized disclosure of U.S. classified information. He is being held in solitary confinement at the Marine Corps Brig, Quantico, Virginia, and is expected to face a court-martial in the spring of 2011. Manning was assigned to a support battalion with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, based at Contingency Operating Station Hammer, Iraq, which gave him access to SIPRNet—the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network—used by the U.S. Department of Defense and Department of State to transmit classified information. He was arrested in May 2010 after Adrian Lamo, a former computer hacker, reported to authorities that Manning had told him, during an online chat, that he had downloaded material from SIPRNet and passed it to Wikileaks. The material included the video of a July 2007 helicopter airstrike in Baghdad—the so-called "Collateral Murder" video, which Wikileaks published in April 2010—a video of the Granai airstrike, and a large number of diplomatic cables.
