Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's Engagement
[LESS INFO] 5 VIEWS | ADDED 22:20:18 01/10/12
Hi I'm Sian Welby and welcome to your brand, spanking new 2012 edition of OK! Insider.
She's famous for starring in Hollywood blockbusters such as 500 days of Summer but now Zooey Deschanel is hitting the small screen in a brand new TV show, New Girl. In this week's OK! Zooey talks about relating to her character, Jess, ditching the quirkiness and how she's turned up on British TV!
Speaking about her New Girl character, Zooey says: I always like to think of her as a 13-year-old version of myself. She's sort of sweet and guileless and, at the same time, excitable and emotional.
The star also explains: When I read this script, I just fell in love with it. We have such great writers, and I feel really lucky every week. It's one of the most fun characters I've ever gotten to play.
From an American doing well in Britain, to a Brit doing well in America - - just a bit - Simon Cowell has opened up this week about missing home, and reveals his new darling... Alesha Dixon and talks long term plans to conquer America.
The 52-year-old music mogul, who has been living it up in the LA with the US X Factor, suggests that he may not be staying there forever and says: I miss Britain, I miss the British public and I miss judging them. It's the year of the Olympics, it's a big year for Britain.‚
With Alesha Dixon reportedly leaving Strictly Come Dancing for Britain's Got Talent, Simon says: “I love Alesha. She's feisty, opinionated and knows what it's like to be both a competitor and a judge on a hugely popular TV show.”
And in other news, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's hopes of keeping their engagement quiet for just a little longer were dashed when Justin's own grandmother confirmed the news.
He called me on Christmas Day to tell me he's engaged,’ said an excited Sadie Bomar says, adding that Justin had asked her to keep quiet about the news until after the holidays.
Well this counts as after the holidays doesn't it?
The family love Jessie. She's a very sweet girl.
Other sources close to the couple say that, after years of an on/off relationship, JT finally popped the question over the Christmas holidays on a snowboarding trip to Wyoming. He reportedly, chose the spot deliberately because he knows how much she loves the mountains.
Friends of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are playing down reports that their relationship is in trouble following claims that the Pirates Of The Caribbean star is consulting with lawyers about ending their union.
A source said: ‘Their relationship is heading toward the end. They're not married but they've been together for years and have kids together so it isn't as easy as just breaking up.
However, another pal says that the pair have always had a temperamental relationship and not to write them off as a couple just yet. Watch this space!
That's just about it from me for this week. Don't forget to check out this week's OK! magazine - on sale now. And for the latest up to date news and gossip, get Tweeting at the address below! Bye for now.

The Masthead Episode 55

Women in Comedy
The Masthead at Marie Claire has decided it's time to take a close look at women in comedy . Amy Poehler 's current lead role in the new sitcom Parks and Recreation sparked an entire Marie Claire feature on the funny ladies of late like Tina Fey and Kathy Griffin , along with the women who laid a beginning foundation in the realm of comedy such as Judy Gold , Roseanne Barr and Rosie O'Donnell .
An exclusive interview with Caroline Hirsch , the founder of famed comedy club Caroline's on Broadway (New York City), sheds light on the hay-day of standup and the rise of the female comedian. What began as a cabaret in 1982, Caroline's soon changed to comedy when they hired Jay Leno in 1983. Hirsch addresses the career of the female comic as rough, with lots of rejection, but as the women's movement has changed more women have gone into comedy and succeeded.
A powerful and groundbreaking statement for the woman comedian in the 80's made clear that beauty is of little importance, and "I'd rather be funny than beautiful". Joan Rivers rejected this however, refusing to be the ugly funny girl and still hold on to this today.
Lucy Kaylin, executive editor of Marie Claire, expresses that we are in an absolutely unprecedented era, with women at the forefront of comedy. Although we have our Ben Stillers and Andy Sambergs continually making us laugh our pants off, right up there with them are the ever-funny Tina Feys and Amy Poehlers.

Stay At Home Urban Chic
Due to the current economic downturn, many people don't feel like going out and spending money at restaurants and night clubs. Now having friends over, cooking dinner and watching TV has become the new form of entertainment. Because of this, there is more time to think about one's home and what it says about our personalities. Marie Claire explores this phenomenon and how to have a little fun with it.
Marie Claire went to the Pearl River Market in SoHo to shop for a dinner party, inspired by the hit show Gossip Girl , all the while sharing great ideas about how to add to your living space, express yourself through decor and keep your home interesting.
Before venturing out, the Masthead consulted with chef Richard Lee from Geisha to instigate an asian-fusion theme, highly characteristic of the common eats in Gossip Girl. Lee also shares some easy and delicious recipes for a small get to gether, what Marie Claire has deemed a chic "TV Dinner."
