euronews cinema - If you go down to the woods today......
www.euronews.com When five friends leave for a weekend in a remote forest, they have no idea what kind of nightmare is awaiting them, nor what is waiting for them in The Cabin in the Woods. The movie is directed by Drew Goddard who already has several episodes of Lost on his CV. Fran Kranz plays the dope-smoker among the group, but when it came to rolling joints, he needed a helping hand. "We had a couple of weeks of rehearsal before we actually started shooting and Chris (Hemsworth) is learning how to ride a motorcycle, Kristen (Connolly) and Jesse (Williams) were doing scuba diving lessons for a water scene and I literally went to pot school," Kranz explained. "I would roll joints. I'd go to the production office and just roll joints for about two hours every morning, practising my joint-rolling skills and then I'd smoke different types of weed out of different kinds of contraptions". It is a true horror, complete with shrieks and buckets of blood. But if Fran Kranz had to bone- up on his drug-taking skills, there was no such problem for Kristen Connolly's vocal performance. "I have had that scream my whole life," she said. "I would play in the backyard sometimes and my Mum would come running out to the house thinking I'd been kidnapped or something horrible had happened and I'd just be playing. "Anything that involves blood, really, you don't think about how much time it takes to get it on and get it off and get it matched to exactly what it was the last time or what ... Obama Testicles Found and Lorax With Exxon - NTN #113

OBAMA FINDS A PAIR, AND THEY’RE HIS!
White House officials are crediting President Obama’s tougher tone lately with the recent discovery of his left and right testicles. “They were in a closet of all places” says an anonymous White House source close to the President’s junk. It is believed the President lost his testicle shortly after taking office, which resulted in his caving to Republicans over tax hikes for the wealthy and many of his campaign promises. “Things’ll be different now,” says the source. “At least until he’s re-elected, then they’re probably coming off again.”
I SPEAK FOR THE TREES… AND EXXON
The people behind the movie The Lorax, Dr. Seuss’s beloved story about the importance of preserving nature, say promotional tie ins will help sell the movie’s message. A studio spokesperson says “seeing the fuzzy little Lorax driving a sports car will teach kids that trees are great, but so is looking sexy when you’re cruising around town or heading to the salon to get your brows waxed.” Reports that Dr. Seuss has been heard spinning in his grave have not been confirmed.
And finally…
RIHANNA AND BROWN: THE BEAT GOES ON
Rihanna has beefed up her life insurance coverage. A spokesperson from State Farm says the singer and sometimes punching bag for on again off again boyfriend Chris Brown has doubled her accidental death coverage to a whopping two million dollars. “Now that they’re sort of back together, she’s not taking any chances” said the anonymous insurance agent. “Say this for the girl, she’s pretty smart… that way.”

Angelina Jolie Reveals All About Her Family Life
[LESS INFO] 26 VIEWS | ADDED 10:28:51 02/28/12
Angelina Jolie reveals all about her idyllic but hectic family life, from her, sexy‚ fella to dancing around with the kids in pyjamas!
The children love being able to travel and they think it's very normal to be constantly setting up home in a new city or spending time with their parents while we're working on a film‚ I think sometimes it's more stressful for Brad because I've always had a lot of nervous energy and it's hard for me to keep still or stay in one place for a long time, but he never complains and he's very efficient at organizing when we have to leave a hotel from the back or use different cars to escape from being followed by the paparazzi.
Describing some of the happiest moments in the Jolie_pitt household, she said: "It's probably in the evening before the kids go to bed. We often play together in our pyjamas after dinner and it's like having a party sometimes where we're all dancing and jumping around and being silly." How cute, aww!
Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has been under constant surveillance since her mother's death as family members seek to ensure history doesn't repeat itself.
Bobbi Kristina, who's had her own dalliances with illegal substances, has been put in the care of Whitney's drug counsellor Warren Boyd, and friends say reports the 18 year old went missing after her mums funeral and was found getting high are completely untrue.
Warren has been at Bobbi's side since her mother died, he's been with her through everything’ says a source. She never went missing. She didn't go to the wake after the funeral because she was overwhelmed. She's being watched like a hawk, don't worry.
Insiders also deny there are rehab plans in place for the teen. She is traumatized, says a friend. But she needs to be around her family. Everyone is keeping a lose eye and giving her whatever help she needs. She's going to be all right.
Attempts by pals to stop Rihanna getting back with Chris Brown are too late they've been seeing each other casually for a while. It emerged last week the pair have recorded two tracks together, with a source saying Rihanna hoped this would pave the way for people to accept she has forgiven him but this has not been the case. And her mentor Jay-Z was said to be.
While Brown has been linked to model Karrueche Tran, he and Rihanna have hooked up on several occasions, and one pal says: Rihanna now feels like shes the one calling the shots.
In fact, its the Florida police calling the shots. If they decide to prosecute Brown for allegedly stealing the phone of a fan who took a picture of him last week, the LA police will seek to revoke his probation and he could face jail for up to four years.
Kim Kardashians first marriage lasted a lot longer than her second but that doesnt mean she took it any more seriously. Former boyfriend Ray J claims in a new book that the reality star cheated with him while still wed to Damon Thomas and that they filmed their sex tape before Kims divorce in 2004.
In the book, Ray J (who was recently linked to Whitney Houston, so he s a real catch) refers to the reality star only as KK and writes: There was a mutual attraction but she was married. She left her husband for me so after that, I felt obligated to be with her. We were like animals, sexually free to try anything, and we did.’
There was more bad news when it emerged that Kim is now facing a lawsuit over her and sister Kloes diet product QuickTrim. A law firm is currently putting together the lawsuit saying the product contains massive amounts of caffeine that could lead to heart problems. Last year she claimed she lost 15 lb on QuickTrim for her wedding.

Celebraters prove that you can have your cake and eat it too. Thousands of Mexicans gathered on Wednesday to enjoy a piece of one of the country's tastiest traditions: a mammoth King Cake provided by the municipal government for the New Year and ahead of Three Kings Day. The behemoth pastry measured a staggering 740 meters in length (2427 feet approximately) and weighed some 9375 kilos (over 10 tons). Now in its fifth year, the King's Cake celebration in Mexico City's famed Zocalo Square honors the Three Kings' visit to the newborn Jesus. One Mexico City resident said the massive cake represents an important tradition for many families. [Unidentified Mexican Woman]: "I think it's good that it takes place every year and that the tradition is not lost for people who can't afford to buy cake - they are able to come here and eat some. Sometimes one has no money and this is an opportunity to come and eat it." [Elizabeth Hernandez, Mexico City Resident]: "The cake represents the arrival of the Three Kings and it brings presents. The slicing of the cake allows us to sometimes get together as a family on the day of the Candelaria." More than 2 thousand bakers participated in preparing this year's tasty treat. 60 Minutes: Another Good Reason to Occupy Foreclosed Homes?
[LESS INFO] 16 VIEWS | ADDED 02:00:38 12/20/11
[Note: If you have any trouble viewing this video, try it on the 60 Minutes homepage here .]
Yet another good reason to occupy homes: Foreclosure thieves have gone high tech. They know when evictions are occurring because they're posted online. And they will follow the sheriff. They're usually there that afternoon or that evening.
Across America, recession-fueled foreclosures and plummeting home values have left countless properties abandoned and vulnerable to looting. As Scott Pelley reports in the above video, the problem has gotten so bad in Cleveland, Ohio, that county officials have demolished more than 1,000 homes this year - and plan to demolish 20,000 more - rather than let the blight spread and render nearby homes worthless.
Jim Rokakis, a former county treasurer, explains why to 60 Minutes : >
Jim Rokakis: We're looking at a neighborhood that has almost as many vacant houses awaiting demolition as there are houses with people living in them. We have one here. One here. One here. One there.
Rokakis is leading the effort to tear down thousands of abandoned homes because they're rotting their neighborhoods from the inside out. It often starts, he told us, when a vacant house becomes an open house to thieves.
Scott Pelley: It's a nice house from the roof to about here. And then down here it's been ripped to pieces. What's goin' on?
Rokakis: Well this is typical because this is as high as they could reach without using ladders. They ripped off the aluminum siding, which you'll see on most of these houses. The aluminum and the vinyl siding comes off. It's getting' about a buck a pound.
Pelley: Essentially foreclosure scavengers have been through here?
Rokakis: The thieves have gone high tech. They know when evictions are occurring 'cause they're posted online. And they will follow the sheriff. They're usually there that afternoon or that evening.
CBS reports that 11 million homeowners are said to be "underwater," or owing more than their house is worth. It's believed that even more neighborhoods would fall into ruin if it weren't for the people who refuse to walk away from their homes, even it might be best for them financially.
Pelley speaks with Linda Bizzelle of Cleveland, who has refused to give up on her home: >
Her house is worth 50,000, she owes a hundred. A financial planner might tell her to put something away for retirement rather than pay a mortgage that will never recover. Especially, since she lost her job in nursing last April.
Pelley: What have you been cutting back on?
Bizzelle: Sometimes food. I would go to the food bank in order to make up the difference, so that I wouldn't be completely hungry. Sometimes I wouldn't get my medications renewed and I would have difficulty with that because I really need my medications. I take medication for high blood pressure. And my doctor could always tell when I didn't take 'em and I said, "Oh no, you can't do that. No No."
Pelley: You're living on unemployment right now?
Bizzelle: Yes.
Pelley: What about the next mortgage payment?
Bizzelle: I'm gonna pray. That's the best I can do. I'm gonna pray that I find a job.

WTF is CAPS???
Rebuilding a Mitsubishi? You'd better have this if you want to get it right. Anyone trolling DSM forums has encountered threads of people asking for part numbers. They eventually see someone mention CAPS, and that person comes through like a god when they effortlessly posts the answer and sometimes screen captures of the part they found. As nice as those guys are, it's not exactly amazing. It's something you can do yourself. If you've never encountered CAPS, in this video I TELL you how to find it. Something about "3000GT" and "CAPS". When you do, you'll find someone else's instructions for several ancient Windows operating systems. It's not difficult software to get working. It's just extremely primitive and may have problems with modern equipment and operating systems. I won't be mean, I'll be frank... I don't want to help anyone troubleshoot Windows-based software installations. Even if you paypal'd me money, I simply don't care enough to help you with it, and it's not you, don't worry. So, accept the challenge and have fun trying to figure out how I got it running on what I'm running it on if you wish. You'll quickly tell by looking at my setup, that it's no help to you. I installed it with the dumbest setup on the oldest, most incompatible computer I could find just to prove this point. Yes, that's trolling. Let the Mac vs. PC arguments begin!!!!! Poem by Tenzin Tsundue : Somewhere I Lost My Losar (Tibetan New Year)
Tenzin Tsundue reads a new unpublished poem for his Mumbai supporters at an event organized by the root , Friends of Tibet and Kitab Khana ============================ Somewhere I lost my Losar Somewhere along the path, I lost it, don't know where or when. It wasn't a one-fine-day incident. As I grew up it just got left behind, very slowly, and I didn't go back for it. It was there when as a kid I used to wait for the annual momo dinner, when we lined up for gifts that came wrapped in newspapers in our refugee school, it was there when we all gained a year together, before birthdays were cakes and candles. Somewhere along the path, I lost it, don't know where or when. When new clothes started to feel stiff and firecrackers frightening, when our jailed heroes ate in pig sties there, or were dead, heads smashed against the wall as we danced to Bollywood numbers here, when the boarding school and uniforms took care of our daily needs, when family meant just good friends, sometime when Losar started to mean a new year, few sacred routines, somehow, I lost my Losar. Somewhere along the path, I lost it, don't know where or when. Colleged in seaside city, when it was still Bombay, sister's family on pilgrimage, uncle in Varanasi, mother grazing cows in South India, still need to report to Dharamsala police, couldn't get train tickets, too risky to try waiting list, and it's three days, including return journey it's one week. Even if I go, other siblings may not find the time ... From: TibetArchive Views: 98 4 ratings Time: 03:24 More in Nonprofits & Activism

Plaxico Burress calls out Tom Coughlin

Welcome to RideThePine.com , the 2011 NFL Season is officially underway with an exciting opening game with the Green Bay Packers defeating the New Orleans Saints . The game was full of everything. Touchdown punt return, touchdown kick return, final play at the goalline and a terrible call that almost blew the game. Packer Lineback AJ Hawk actually jumped over this guy.
New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress spoke out about his former head coach, Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants in an article with Men’s Journal .
“After my situation happened, I turned on the TV, and the first words out his mouth was ‘sad and disappointing,’” Burress said. “I’m like, forget support — how about some concern? I did just have a bullet in my leg. And then I sat in his office, and he pushed back his chair and goes, ‘I’m glad you didn’t kill anybody!’ Man, we’re paid too much to be treated like kids. He doesn’t realize that we’re grown men and actually have kids of our own.”
Because someone who is a responsible adult and so worried about his kids would be out late at a night club carrying a gun in the waistband of his sweatpants. When you act like a child, you get treated like a child. You’re lucky that Tom didn’t bend you over his knee and spank you, you immature, over-paid, wanna-be gangsta cry-baby. And let’s not forget, you shot YOURSELF in the leg, moron. You know who else shot themselves in the leg, the slow kid from 8 Mile .
Sometimes I wonder who is making decisions at the NFL headquarters. So the opening Sunday of the NFL season is also the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 . Well, Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs wanted to wear these special cleats and shoes to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives on that day. This is great tribute but Briggs was informed that the NFL will potentially fine him for not wearing league approved apparel. If the NFL follows through on this fine, they should be embarrassed and ashamed. At some point, you have to step back and look at the bigger picture and forget you dumb rules. Briggs by the way has said he will wear the gloves and cleats and will happily pay the fine.
Alright, I feel like I’m being overly angry during this episode...so let’s end it on something fun.

Studio Guest: Wolfgang Gerke, Market Expert
[LESS INFO] 31 VIEWS | ADDED 22:30:00 05/31/11
We talk with Wolfgang Gerke about the financial crisis in Europe and how we can learn from historical experiences. We also ask him, how one could solve the problems caused by heavily indepted municipalities.DW-TV: Mr. Gerke, you can probably tell us from a financial point of view what can we learn from history? Wolfgang Gerke: We can learn a lot from history, but sometimes we forget to. I think a financial crisis is a little like a dangerous virus and we know how to fight the virus, but then we get a mutation. Then we have to relearn how to fight the new virus. If you take the policies of central banks in the past and at the moment, then I fear that we haven't learned from history. We are taking so much cheap money for all the investment bankers, especially in the United States, and money under the inflation rate so we are producing the next crisis. The next crisis could perhaps lead to hyper-inflation here in Germany, like we've seen in the 1920s - is that a possibility? It's a possibility but I don't think we'll go that way. For sure there are so many debts worldwide - in the US, in Greece, in Germany too - trillions. What will happen with all these debts, the next generation has to pay for all these debts, and that means we will pay with less good money. That means inflation. I have no fear that the euro will not stay, there are so many problems outside Europe that the euro will be a stong currency. The Chinese will want to have some euros, and not only the dollar in their portfolio, but the possibility to buy with euros will be influenced by inflation rates between 3 and 4 percent. The situation in Greece, what difference would it make? I mean there are some experts who say that Greece should long have left the Eurozone and returned to their own currency. Would that make a difference? We made a wrong policy in Greece. We pretended to save Greece and we were saving French and German banks. For sure they had difficulties and we had to do something, but it was the wrong way. We could help Greece with a haircut, we could help Greece with a time out from the euro, that would be more interesting for tourists coming to Greece, so we will have all these problems in the future and I see in the moment no real solution. Let’ turn into another subject. When I don't pay my bills I get into trouble. At least when I don't pay them on time. Municipalities can wait. How is that possible? That shouldn't be possible. Everyone has to pay their bill and if it's public money I think you have to be the first one who is paying the bills. But they try to save interest rates and they do so. So they should be leading by good example. But it also has to do with the fact that they want to save money because they are in debt. They are heavily indebted, municipalities. How did that happen? There are two ways to be in debt. One is, and that isn't acceptable, that you have the wrong management. We often have very poor professional management, but the other way is some have difficulties. They lost jobs and these jobs are outside perhaps even of Germany and one has to help them. But that's very expensive, so they try to do it another way, a not acceptable way. And the way that you just indicate of course is that some of these municipalities turned to the financial markets, tried their luck speculating a bit with taxpayers money. They tried to get very fast and easy money by speculating but this was a way into the casino. We must say that someone who doesn't know what he is buying in the financial market shouldn't do so. For sure there were some banks doing a good job for themselves there and they earned much money, but you cannot blame them, you have to blame yourself, and if you don't know what financial product you are buying, you shouldn't do so. And especially if it is a financial product that is known to be quite complicated. Like credit default swaps. After the crisis they started to get into criticism, and they're still being traded. How come? It's a quite complex financial product but you can understand it if you are a professional you learn the market, and therefore I would say don't do anything against products, but if you don't understand them you shouldn't speculate on long-term and short-term interest rates, that's dangerous if you have the unopen position. Understanding money, handling money isn't always that easy. Can be complicated and that's why we've been living with debts for centuries. Are debts something that we will have to live with for the rest of our lives? Yes we have to do so. It's not so difficult for someone my age, but my sons suffer that problem and we will get higher inflation rates. Wolfgang Gerke, then let's take a look now at the current level of debt here in Germany. Let's take a closer look at the clock which keeps ticking: every second, debt is growing by 2,279 euros -- so since the start of our programme, the total amount of German debt has risen by over three and a half million Euros ! Sobering thought. The last one we have time for today. Wolfgang Gerke, thank you very much for joining us. Interview: Monika Jones

Are happy days here again for the Dakota Wizards? Time will tell as the team tries to turn things around after their worst start in franchise history. The Wizards are 1-and-9 and spent this week making many roster moves, including adding DeMarre Carroll, who is on assignment from the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. For veterans like Renaldo Major and Darren Cooper, who are used to winning... the idea of losing isn't ideal. But at the same time, the season is still very young. "(Renaldo Major:) You have gotta take the good with the bad and that's life. Sometimes life is going to be good and sometimes, it is going to be bad and you just have to hang in there and keep the same character and demeanor that you have been carrying and as far as me and Coop, we have been used to winning and we just have to keep stressing to the guys how important each game is, each practice is and how we must prepare and how we must play and they are starting to get it, so things will turn around. " Another man who hasn't lost hope is Rory White, as the head coach sees a lot of upside with the roster he has. "(Renaldo Major:) We are competing, except for last Friday's game where we just didn't play hard and the thing is, we are in games. It is just sometimes, we have struggled to score down the stretch in the third and fourth quarter, but right now, I think the guys are come around. They are running and this is a whole new group. " Tonight, the Wizards are home against the Texas Legends. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. central time.
