Xbox Is Top Dog and A Game Of Thrones Game - Press Pause Daily

The 360 is now top dog and winter is coming to your game device.
SHOW NOTES:
Story 1:
The Xbox 360 has been PRETTY dominant this console cycle, and now it has finally become the top selling console IN THE WORLD!!!!
According to a story by our friends over at Destrutcoid, for the last quarter of the year, Microsoft sold 8.2 million Xbox consoles. That easily beats Sony’s total of 6.5 million and Nintendo’s 5.6 million. Total sales for the year are a bit closer, with Microsoft just edging out Sony with the 360 selling 14.9 million to the PS3’s 14.1.
Now to put that in perspective though. If you look at lifetime sales, Nintendo is still the top dog with 95 million Wiis sold. But with Wii sales slowing down, Nintendo releasing the Wii U later this year, and new consoles from Sony and Microsoft STILL a few years away. It looks like there is still time for Microsoft to still become the dominant console of this generation.

Story 2:
The Game of Thrones series of books are very popular, and the TV show was a BIG hit when it debut last year on HBO.
Well now it seems that fans of the George R. R. Martin fantasy series have something else to occupy their time.
Atlus games has announced that it will be releasing their Game of Thrones RPG on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on May 15th.
The game is being developed by Cyanide Studio, and will feature the town of Riverspring, which is dealing with the death of Lord Sarwyck. The game looks to have you playing as several different characters across parallel storylines as you deal with a threat to the kingdom of Westeros.
The game will drop about a month after the second season of the TV show starts. So if you are a fan on the series, and are looking for new RPG, then it looks like this could be a perfect fit.

Sony Gets New CEO and Madden Picks Super Bowl Winner - Press Pause Daily
[LESS INFO] 8 VIEWS | ADDED 03:31:18 02/03/12
Sony gets a new CEO and we have the winner of this weekend’s super bowl...well according to Madden.
SHOW NOTES:
Story 1:
After a lot of rumor and speculation, it was announced on Wednesday that current Sony Executive President Kazuo Hirai would become the President and CEO of the whole of Sony Corporation, starting April 1st.
Kaz joined Sony’s music division back in 1984, but his star really began to shine when he moved over to Sony Computer Entertainment. He was instrumental in turning around the Playstation division, and has a long legacy of managing the successful Playstation brand.
Kaz said in the announcement that "I am grateful to Sir Howard and to the Board for their confidence in me, and I look forward to working with everyone at Sony more closely than ever before to build a strong future for our customers, shareholders, partners and employees."
Kaz will replace current President and CEO Sir Howard Stringer, who is in line to become Chairman of Sony’s Board of Directors starting in June.

Stor y 2:
We end this week with a bit of fun news. The Super Bowl is this coming Sunday, and as with every year EA Sports has predicted the winner using it’s own Madden football game. And this year the winner is.....
Well, according them, the winner of Super Bowl 46 will be the NY Giants. When EA Sports ran the game through last year’s edition of the Madden game series, the outcome had the Giants squeaking out a win with a score of 27-24.
According to the story on ShackNews, the game ended in dramatic fashion, with Lawrence Tynes kicking a last minute 40-yard field goal for the win. The in game MVP for the game was Eli Manning, with 25 completed passed out of 39, 3 touchdowns, and one interception.
So there ya go....you now know who will win this Sunday, but before you head out to make a last minute bet, you should probably know something. While Madden has been pretty good at picking the winner of the game, it doesn’t quite get the point spread right. Something to consider.

Humans - "Avec Mes Mecs": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
So it's not entirely true that opposites attract, but it is true that when two opposites get together, things become a lot less mundane. This is certainly what's happened between Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq, the musicians behind Vancouver indie-electro-pop dance duo, Humans. Their debut EP, Avec Mes Mecs, which translates into English as "with my friends," or "with my bros," is just one facet of Humans' sound, which the two say is never going to be the same twice. Just when you say "I think we found our sound, we find something else," says Ricq. This state of flux is essential to Humans' sound, as much as it changes it. Humans bring together the big beats of Ricq's past as a warehouse party promoter/performer and the melodic sensibility of Slade's days as a firefighter-turned-folk musician. The title track, written after what Slade calls "many days of absolutely brilliant partying" following New Year's Eve, is a celebration of being together. With the refrain, "who knew that all we had to do was party", serving as the clarion call for all those looking to come together in a mess of bodies and smiles. Humans capture the blind, full, captivating joy of letting everything go for a while, and giving into the fun. After these debauched days, which Slade says were "about as tame as you can be spending three days drinking without clothes," Ricq taught him how to use a 505 Arpeggiator and side by side, the two wrote out their experience to the beat. Transfer - "Take Your Medicine": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
Fast rising San Diego quartet TRANSFER release their second UK single, Take Your Medicine, on CoolGreen Recordings on October 3rd. Take Your Medicine, from these leaders of an increasingly bouyant San Diego music scene, is taken from an album bound with anthemic choruses, psychedelic guitars and skewed pop hooks - a sound that clips stadium-sized riffs to anthemic lyricism. The single comes accompanied by an award-winning video and follows the band picking up two awards at this year's San Diego Music Awards. Says singer Matthew Molarius of the single, \"This song is personal to me. I\'ve always been curious about psychoactive medication and its application - not to mention the influence of the corporate machine of pharmaceutical companies. I spoke to the director, Nader Husseini, about making a video to reflect the lyric and tone of the song and he developed an animation idea." High praise is something TRANSFER has been gathering over the past year. Since first recording and self-releasing Future Selves in the US, the four piece has recently supported The Killers, White Lies, The Kaiser Chiefs and toured the UK with standout festival shows in Hyde Park, Hop Farm and T In The Park. Amidst this, they recorded their UK TV debut for Live From Abbey Road, in the process picking up just about the greatest fan any new band could dream of, when none other than Sir Paul McCartney stopped in to say hello. Larsen has released two previous solo albums, Under the Surface (2006) and The Chase (2008). On This Week, The Long, Last Desperate Gasp of Gov. Rick Perry

Poor Rick Perry. Back when he still had a chance, he couldn't string two coherent sentences together. And now that he's probably at the end of the line, he finally learns to play the game: Namely, to lie, exaggerate and deny with the best of them. >
STEPHANOPOULOS: Governor Perry, thanks for joining us this morning.
PERRY: Good morning, George. How are you?
STEPHANOPOULOS: I'm doing well. Thank you. Less than a week to go in South Carolina, you're still lagging far behind. To borrow a metaphor from your home state, has South Carolina become your Alamo?
PERRY: I don't think so. But we get out every day and go take our message of job creation, and, you know, we're the most consistent fiscal conservative and social conservative in the race, and that's our message, both on the airwaves and out on the campaign trail. The retail politics in South Carolina has been awesome.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But as you know, Governor, that big group of social conservatives meeting in Texas yesterday, decided you're not the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney. They want Rick Santorum to have that mantle. You didn't even make the final ballot.
PERRY: Well, that's what they said about Ronald Reagan as well, that, you know, he was unelectable, he was not the one that they wanted to pick. But South Carolina citizens said, you know what, he is. So we'll wait and see Saturday what the people of South Carolina say.
STEPHANOPOULOS: What is your message this final week?
PERRY: Well, it's all about jobs and getting this country back working again. I'm -- 11 years of executive governing experience that have created a million jobs in my home state , the 13th largest economy in the world. I keep the taxes low, the regulatory climate fair and predictable, a legal system that doesn't allow for oversuing. And in a state that's got quite a military history and a lot of veterans here, I think they're looking for a president who not only has worn the uniform of the country, but also has been the commander in chief of 20,000-plus National Guard troops that have been deployed multiple times. They know my commitment to the men and women of the military, and we'll stand with them and support them over the course of the years.
As we already know, Texas has a "weak governor," one whose powers and responsibilities are few. We see how well that same "executive governing experience" prepared George W. Bush to be president. >
STEPHANOPOULOS: Governor, as you know, you have taken some heat this week from many Republicans for your attacks on Mitt Romney as a vulture capitalist during his time at Bain Capital. Want to read some of them here. Sean Hannity said, "it almost sounds like Occupy Wall Street." Rudy Giuliani, "it's ignorant and dumb." Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, "it really gives the Democrats a lot of fodder." Any regrets for using that phrase?
PERRY: I think the issue -- it's not a new phrase. It was used by Stewart Stephens (ph), who was one of Mitt Romney's consultants, against Meg Whitman. I think the issue for everyone is, look, this is something that we knew wasn't going to come up. And it's better to be talking about it here in January in South Carolina than it is in September and October with a nominee. So if it's a fatal flaw, then we need to talk about it now.
The issue has been about who's best prepared and who has the background of creating jobs, and that's what those comments were always about, was that, who is the job creator that's on that stage, and I will submit to you that my job creation record is incomparable when it comes to the other candidates on that stage.
Oh yeah, there's the little fact that most of the jobs created in Texas were federal jobs. >
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you don't buy Mitt Romney's argument that at Bain he created more than 100,000 jobs?
PERRY: I think, you know, the issue is, what is the total -- it's just like Sarah Palin, when Sarah asked that question, she said, you know, that's really what this issue is all about, not whether or not did the Bain Capital is a job creator or not, but did they really create that many jobs? So, yes, I think the question is out there, and it's a good conversation to have. We're going to get tested by Obama and his group. So, you better have all of these answers done early. No surprises in September and October.
STEPHANOPOULOS: But I think what a lot of Republicans are worried about, is they're going to hear that phrase "vulture capitalism" coming out of your mouth, from President Obama and the Democrats in the fall?
PERRY: Well, the issue is about job creation. And as I said, I think if this is a fatal flaw, it needs to be talked about now, rather than in September. So, you know, we're talking about it, and the people of South Carolina will decide whether or not that's a problem or not.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So, Governor Perry, what is your plan going forward? If you don't come in first or a close second in South Carolina, is that it for your campaign?
PERRY: Well, we'll make that decision on Saturday. Our intention is to win South Carolina and go forward from there. But to try to plan out your campaign months in advance, I think is a little bit of a stretch.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Governor Perry, thanks very much for your time this morning.
PERRY: So long, George.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Take care.
