World Bank Warns Developing Countries of Further Economic Slowdown
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me The World Bank says developing countries need to be on guard for an even slower global economy. The comments were made in Beijing... and revised numbers paint an even grimmer picture in the time ahead. On Wednesday, the World Bank warned that developing countries should be prepared to brace for a growth slowdown, as it sharply scaled back its estimates for expansion. It stems partly from Europe's debt woes. It predicts the global economy will expand by 2.5 percent in 2012 and by 3.1 percent in 2013. It's well behind the 3.6 percent growth for each year that the bank projected in June. It believes developing countries' economies will continue to outpace those of richer developed countries. Officials raised further concerns over the already weak capital market in Europe. [Lin Yifu, Chief Economist, World Bank]: "In the Euro areas, the capital markets freeze up and the situation there deteriorate. That can trigger some kind of crisis, like what happened in September 2008. That should be the risk that we need to watch about." The World Bank said global economic conditions are fragile and uncertain in the medium term. Among other things, developing countries "could help by avoiding entering into trade disputes and by allowing market prices to move freely." It also said developing-country governments should start contingency planning to identify spending priorities ... From: NTDTV Views: 95 3 ratings Time: 01:59 More in News & Politics

The Lake Travis Underwater Cleanup is the BIGGEST scuba diving and shoreline cleanup in Texas. The cleanup is followed by a volunteer thank-you party & is a great event for ALL ages! RAIN OR SHINE! September 11th we united with volunteers across the nation to make the tenth anniversary of 9/11 one of service and remembrance. 2011 RESULTS - 848 volunteers (379 Divers, 398 shoreline, and 71 party volunteers). 1.64 Tons of litter removed. $37,725.45 worth of Volunteer Hours! Most Unique items found: Divers-40 Foot Deep Anchor and Shoreline-Old Radio. Be the Change Austin recruited 1,000 volunteers this year to make wonderful things happen all over the City of Austin. Be the Change is an annual national day of service coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) to inspire and foster civic engagement through volunteerism and community service. Every year, thousands of participants across the country contribute innumerable hours of community service in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi's famous quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Be the Change has allocated 300 of their Volunteers to a work day at Montopolis Greenbelt. In a part of the city not known for its greenbelts, Montopolis Greenbelt is a property with rich historical relevance, and is in substantial need of care and maintenance. Previously used as a dumping ground, stakeholders have held workdays wherein approximately 2,000 tires, an air conditioning unit, a washing machine, and a dishwasher were pulled out of the greenbelt proper and its waterways. The property is also ravaged by invasive plants, and full of trash and debris. Undoubtedly much progress will be made on this continually improving natural and historical preserve with the help of Be the Change Volunteers. The plastic caps sculpture was on display outside Austin City Hall during the Green City Festival on Sunday October 23, 2011. Rare Photos of Amur Leopard Captured
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ me.lt There's only about 50 left in the world, but Chinese researchers have captured photos of the rare amur leopard. The shots were taken in northeast China, and offers some hope the species could yet live on. Researchers say that they have recently captured two clear photos of the endangered amur leopard in a forest in northeast China's Jilin Province. It's the first time Chinese professional researchers have got photos of the rare animal since 1949. The amur leopard, one of the world's most endangered large cats, has been spotted in a forest in the province's Yanbian prefecture, according to a doctoral candidate at Peking University named Sun Ge. Automatic infrared cameras were set up in the forest to capture images of the animal. Sun and his assistant set up 40 cameras three months ago, returning to collect photos every twenty days. One of the cameras managed to capture the animal on September 19 in Wangqing County, which borders Russia and North Korea. Sun's work is part of a field research project jointly sponsored by Jilin's provincial forest authorities and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The total number of amur leopards living in the wild is believed to be less than 50 worldwide, with about ten living in China. The number was arrived at from interviewing researchers, as no systematic field research concerning the animals has ever been conducted in China. The ... From London - A new report published in the European Heart Journal describes a natural process that reduces risk of dying from heart disease. Researchers found that the heart has small vessels (known as coronary collaterals) that channel blood flow to the heart in case of significant blockage in the main arteries. Results of a meta-analysis found that people with lots of these vessels had a 36% reduced risk of dying from heart disease.
And finally, from California - Slightly elevated blood pressure may raise risk of stroke, according to a report published in Neurology . Occupy Wall Street: Day 8: Raising the Stakes; The Notice; Public Use of Private Space New York, September 24th--At around 10 am a notice was issued by suits from the alleged owners of Zuccotti Park aka Liberty Plaza, prohibiting use of camping gear and sleeping bags--possily an ominous prelude to the police crackdown on Occupy Wall Streeters during a march near Union Square, including the ue of orange netting and pepper spray. Tension built up during the evening with police reinforcements around the perimeter of the park, but at the time of this post (4:30pm Sunday) no evacuation of the park had taken place. This segment includes an analysis by an attorney of the possible legal status of the park, which though privately owned is dedicated to public usage, and whether constraints may or may not be placed on that use. Park occupiers issued a petition to collect signatures from the public in support of the encampment, which is part of a global protest against corporate greed, the Wall Street bail-out and its aftermath.
