The longtime Red Sox DH says he’s fed up with the drama in Boston, and doesn’t know if he wants to be a part of it next year. But would he go as far to actually play for the Yankees? That’s what ESPN’s Colleen Dominguez asked him… “That’s something I gotta think about. And who doesn’t want to be involved in a good organization that everything goes down the right way?” Ortiz isn’t liked very much in New York City, so how on earth would that work? The Washington Post says... “This means only one thing: time to go back to Plan A. Winning over New Yorkers one hug at a time.” Remember this promo the MLB did back in May? “I have an idea man, hold on, you gotta listen to me for one second. Come on man! Come on man! Alright, you promise you’ll let us win next year? I can’t promise you that, but give me a hug man!” So he’s out giving hugs to New Yorkers, but what else has Big Papi done to garner the attention of the bitter rivals? ESPN debuted this commercial two years ago. “You gotta break this thing in. Hey Wally- Wally- It’s not what you think!” While Ortiz is out warming the hearts of Yankee fans, the Baltimore Sun takes a more realistic approach to the idea of Ortiz in pinstripes. “ESPN caught him at an emotional time, the day that a Boston Globe report torpedoed the Boston clubhouse … And just because Ortiz said he would think about thinking about playing for the Yankees doesn’t mean he has purchased a train ticket to NYC and called up Johnny Damon for the number of his old real estate agent.” And don’t the Yankees have a say in this? The New York Post explains just because Ortiz said he would think about playing for New York, doesn’t mean New York is thinking about signing Ortiz. “The Yankees don't need the Big Papi Sideshow. They need to get younger, and more athletic. Take this idea that Big Papi could be a Yankee and shove it down that hole that was left when Ortiz's jersey was jack-hammered from Yankee Stadium.”
