Mohamed Nasheed insists that members of the security forces made him stand down at gunpoint on Tuesday. However his fightback rally ended in violence, with clashes between police and members of his party, angry at what they believe was a coup. Volunteers of the Global Quit CCP Service Center say this year they expect the world will see big changes taking place in China. Our New York correspondent brings us this report. Tuidang is a movement that could change the face of China. In mainland China, Tuidang or "Quit the Chinese Communist Party," is an underground movement, operated through word of mouth, phone calls and Internet posts that have not been censored. Here in New York, where the efforts are coordinated openly, the news is reaching millions of Chinese people. Street protests spread in Egypt
www.euronews.net On the streets of Alexandria, following Friday prayers thousands marched towards a security forces' base chanting slogans against the country's military rulers demanding they stand down. They say the rulers have failed to deliver "bread, freedom and social equality". Not enough is being done to improve their lives since the revolution, they claim. Earlier in the city of Suez it was reported two people were killed when police used live rounds to hold back protesters. The demonstrations were triggered by the deaths on Wednesday in Port Said. Protests in Drango (Draggo) flared up on Jan 23, 2012, the first day of Chinese new year, after local Chinese Public Security Bureau officials began to arbitrarily arrest Tibetans on suspicion of their involvement in the appearance of leaflets and posters around the town warning of more Tibetan self-immolations if the Chinese government did not listen to Tibetan concerns. The unarmed protesters, many of whom were farmers and nomads raised slogans calling for freedom in Tibet and the return of the Dalai Lama. As the protests grew stronger, the Public Security Bureau and People's Armed Police intervened by using guns to rein in the protesters. Earlier information confirmed the death of Norpa Yonten and another unnamed Tibetan. More than 30 Tibetans suffered serious injuries in the indiscriminate firings. It can be seen from the photos that the injured Tibetans have bare minimum medical resources at their disposal, leaving very little chances of recovery or even survival. Following the protests, an undeclared martial law situation prevailed in the region as Tibetans ... From: TibetArchive Views: 404 28 ratings Time: 05:47 More in News & Politics
