EU responds after visit to Tripoli
The crisis in Libya continues to raise questions. Ambassadors in Libya have called for an independent assessment mission on the question of the violation of human rights. After a 48-hour visit to Libya, the head of the European External Action Service, Agostino Miozzo, spoke to euronews. "It is essential to be certain of where the responsibility lies; getting that knowledge is why the ambassadors in Libya require an independent investigation," he said. On the question of military intervention in the north African country Miozzo stressed that his response was a personal one. "The sanctions were decreed and decided, I think personally before deciding or thinking about another type of intervention we need to verify, investigate and look at all the diplomatic and political channels," he stressed. "Right now, there are eight European embassies accredited to the government. And so this government is our partner," he concluded. Peter Seligmann has a vision and a mission. The vision is an environmentally healthy world that will provide economic opportunities and security for all people. The mission is to bring together industry, government, religious leaders, professors, scientists, local and indigenous people to make that vision a reality. Seligmann's passion is contagious. People worldwide -- from local communities to captains of industry to heads of state -- are buying into Seligmann's bold agenda. Constantly bringing new ideas and innovation to the table, Seligmann lead Conservation International's growth into one of the foremost forces for conservation today. Widely recognized as one of the world's most inspiring and dynamic environmental entrepreneurs, Seligmann focuses on finding strategic positive tipping points: activities and partners that will allow Conservation International's work to have a truly global impact. He is an authority on how the power of the private sector can be harnessed to protect the Earth's biodiversity. The future Seligmann imagines -- in which our Earth's natural wealth serves as the cornerstone for vibrant, thriving human societies -- is attainable, but it will require a global shift in attitudes and actions, a shift to ensure that generations to come can enjoy Earth's abundant biodiversity. TEDxRainier is an independently organized TED event held in Seattle, Washington.

“Church groups, mosque-related groups, synagogue-related groups—it’s not necessarily their mission to go and promote water security, but if it’s their mission to help their neighbors, which it always is, then we’re going to have to think hard about how we’re going to work together,” says one of the founders of Partners in Health.
