Informal EU Summit Focuses on Pushing Growth and Jobs
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me Leaders of EU countries met for an informal summit on Wednesday evening to discuss growth and jobs in Europe. It was the first summit for newly elected President of France and the first summit to focus directly on growth. Here's more. European leaders agreed that growth measures should go hand-in-hand with dealing with deficits as they left an informal EU summit in the early hours of Thursday. Three main pillars for stimulating growth have been identified: fiscal consolidation, structural reforms for competitiveness and targeted investment. The summit is the first one dedicated specifically to boosting economic growth and creating jobs in the euro zone; it was closely watched by the European Parliament and civil society. [Martin Schulz, President of the European Parliament]: "This is the 24th summit we've had since the beginning of the crisis in 2008 and it is the first summit that is specifically dealing with employment and growth." The summit took place during difficult time when European economic growth is at a standstill. [Francois Hollande, President of France]: "Today the European growth is at zero in 2012, and there is recession in the euro zone. And the expectations for 2013 are relatively pessimistic as the total growth for the European Union is around 1%." Severe concerns are mounting about the Greek economy and the Spanish banking sector. Al Gore and Van Jones: Wind energy not a partisan question
Rebuild the Dream's Van Jones tells Jennifer Granholm that wind energy and the production tax credit should be an easy win. "This is something good for red states and blue states," he says. Al Gore points out that the push against wind energy is not due to a flaw with the source, but a result of the power of the oil companies. So how can politicians justify fighting against green initiatives? "I think they're in hock to the oil and coal companies," Gore says, "the fossil fuel industry has made it their mission to try to kill renewable energy." Euro tumbles on German weakness
www.euronews.com The euro's value against the dollar fell on Thursday to its lowest in nearly two years pushed down by a slowdown in economic activity in Europe's powerhouse Germany. Activity for the whole euro area also declining faster than expected in May. That shows the downturn that started in smaller periphery members is taking root in core countries -Germany and France. As a result the euro fell sharply on Thursday. At one stage is was well below $1.26, its lowest level since July 2010. Analyst Jeremy Gaudichon with Richelieu Finance explained why: "We can see that the euro is weak against the dollar because there is a real difference in growth between Europe and the US. The major concern around sovereign debt is, of course, in Europe." The euro has lost 1.6 percent against the dollar so far this week with sentiment already fragile after a European Union leaders summit on Wednesday failed to shed new light on how they might tackle the eurozone debt crisis. Fears of a Greek exit from the euro have mounted after the inconclusive election this month left the country on the path to bankruptcy and raised the risk of its problems spreading to other eurozone countries. Investors are now profoundly worried about what impact Greece leaving the euro would have on the region's fragile banking system. Bankia's black hole
www.euronews.com Spain will explain today how it plans to plug a huge hole in the finances of Bankia, the country's fourth largest lender. Details of the rescue are due to be given by the Economy Minister Luis de Guindos. Bankia needs to find close to nine billion euros so it complies with government demands to cushion itself against property loan losses and to meet strict European Banking Authority rules on capital reserves. The government has just picked Goldman Sachs to value Bankia and consultancies Oliver Wyman and Roland Berger were hired to audit other banks' loan books, damaged by a property crash that helped push bad loans to their highest in 18 years. The help for Bankia is part of an effort to clean up a banking sector laden with bad debts and stop the country sinking further into the eurozone debt crisis. Aliens Gets Delayed and 007 Release Date - Press Pause Daily
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 03:00:00 05/23/12
Aliens get pushed back to next year and 007 is coming back this fall.
SHOW NOTES:
Story 1:
It’s been a long tough road for the Gearbox developed, Sega published game based on the classic sci-fi movie series Alien. And it just got a bit longer.
Gearbox announced on Monday that the game would be delayed...again. The game will now come out at the beginning of next year. New new release date will fall on February 12 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC versions of the game. There is still no word on when the Wii U version of the game will release.
In a post on the Sega Blog, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said that “Because the game was 'announced' with that original press release, it might feel, to those of you who have been waiting for the game since then, that it has been in development a long time. In fact, with the release date now set, it turns out that the total development time we have spent creating Aliens: Colonial Marines is about the same length of time as we had spent creating the original Borderlands or the original Brothers in Arms”
To help sooth the pain a little, Gearbox has released a new trailer to hopefully tide gamers over until next year.
I know a few gamers have really been looking forward to this, but hopefully the extra time till let them make the best game they can. Fingers crossed.

Story 2:
I was announced awhile back that Activision would be making a new game to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, and we now have a release date.
007 Legends will release on October 16th, just month month ahead of the next film in the long running franchise: Skyfall.
They have also released a brand new trailer that shows off the level based on the 1979 Roger Moore Bond film Moonraker. This will be just one of the six classic Bond films that will make up the narrative of the game.
This is the only Bond film we know about yet, but since we still have several months until release, I’m sure we will find out more soon.
The game is being developed by Eurocom, who were the developers of the PS2 version of Quantum of Solace as well as last year’s remake of Goldeneye 007.
We heard good things about that remake, and it should be fun to go back into Bond’s long history in game form. Definitely on my to watch list.
