from the "Politics and Transparency" panel.
How can IT help us achieve greater transparency and meaningful interaction in local and federal government? Should government ever have the right to assert ownership over laws, cases, and opinions? Where does free culture end and private interests begin in the democratic process? How transparent is the current presidential campaign, and where will the next battles be fought? Hear from activists and digerati on the current state of politics and what they’re doing to bring about a better democracy through transparency and technology.

Last year it was the Vloggies and we won three awards and life was good. Then people got fired and confusion reigned and Irina decided to hold a completely non-traditional awards ceremony. Each person who signed up to attend the live event in LA was assigned another media creator, to review and present an award to. Totally "peer to peer." Some of us who were not attending in person decided to create the Winnies from Afar - and here you have it!
Please enjoy, find some new internet tv shows to watch and know that people can celebrate for themselves without requiring some authority on high to dole out the designations.

I was traveling last week and in my absence, Shane (Secret Cameraman) was able to connect with Noel Hidalgo, aka noneck " and on his website, Luck of Seven - " an open-source journey around the world documenting free culture, social innovators & global change." He is traveling to seven continents in seven months, and relying in large part on the kindness of strangers. So it was that Shane offered him lodging in our home. I think you will find his story very compelling. Could you drop everything and travel the world, one day at a time?
