Story 1:
We’ve talked a lot about indie developers going to Kickstarter to fund their games, but what do they do once they finish the game? Well it looks like EA might have a solution.
EA announced on Friday that they would wave distribution fees for their Origin game service for 90 days after a Kickstarter game has launched.
Of course there is a catch. They are offering this only to games that are “fully-funded, complete and ready-to-publish games designed for digital download to PC platforms."
Origin’s Senior VP David DeMartini said that “Gamers around the world deserve a chance to play every great new game, and by waiving distribution fees on Origin we can help make that a reality for successfully crowd-funded developers."
This is a pretty sweet deal, especially for indie devs that are just getting started. And of course it doesn’t do EA any harm to glom onto a bit of indie cred for itself as well.

Story 2:
The Walking Dead is doing pretty well for itself. It’s got a well loved comic, a highly acclaimed TV show, and now a best selling video game.
The Telltale developed game came out two weeks ago, and has already over 1 million copies over the PC, MAC, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions of the game. And there is still an iOS version on the horizon.
This is real good news for Telltale, as this makes this game their fastest selling game to date. The game is getting really good reviews, and the $5 price point can’t hurt either.
Telltale CEO Dan Connors said that “The most exciting aspect of getting off to such a great start is that this is just the beginning of the five episode series. The Walking Dead fans are going to experience some really great moments in the months ahead that are uniquely influenced by the choices they make throughout the season."

Oil company executives and other special interests are dumping millions of dollars in Super Pac attack ads. In fact as this chart shows, we got almost $60 million in spending against the President and his policies so far in this campaign by the other side. The last two weeks have shown this clearly. The Koch-brothers funded Super Pac spent $6 million dollars on TV ads attacking the President. Mitt Romney's Super Pac put another $4 million on the air. That's $10 million in ads from two outside groups who can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money. While Governor Romney has run an almost solely negative campaign tearing down the President, we started this campaign with a series of positive ads. These ads ... Social TV newcomer Viggle has amassed more than 625000 registered users four months after launch and is gearing up to add several new features shortly, the company says. Beet.TV caught up with Viggle's Jason Reindorp, VP of Marketing at Viggle, at the Ad Age Social TV in Manhattan on Wednesday. Viggle awards loyalty points redeemable for music downloads, movie tickets, and gift cards as users participate in polls, trivia and other forms of interactivity, Reindorp tells us. He says Viggle will introduce new games, social features and functionality in the next few months to grow its user base and engagement. Viggle users have engaged more than 142 million times since launch and active users check in an average of five times per day.The Viggle app works by analyzing audio cues from TV shows, prompting users to then check in to those shows to earn points and to participate in social activities. For an April airing of the award-winning film "To Kill a Mockingbird" on USA Network, the programmer saw a doubling in check-ins with about 50% of users playing along with polls. CBS Inerative's vast number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers now source 15 percent of the site's video views says VP and General Manager Marc DeBevoise in his interview with Beet.TV. He says the new found source of traffic is because popular CBS series such as 'How I Met Your Mother,' have large audiences who actively engage with the show via Facebook and Twitter. So, recently, when the comdey's Facebook fan page crossed 20 million likes, the cast did a shout out on the show, which acocounted for 40 to 50 percent of CBS.com's video views for that day alone. Social traffic poses good news for the site and its advertisers, since the users are "by definition more engaged, when they are delivered to the site." says DeBovoise.
