Sony's Vita Spending and Unreal Needs Power - Press Pause Daily
[LESS INFO] 14 VIEWS | ADDED 20:00:00 02/14/12
Sony dropping big money on Vita and Unreal Engine 4 will need more power.
SHOW NOTES:
Story 1:
Sony is releasing it’s newest handheld, the Vita next Tuesday, and they aren’t skimping on the promotion.
According to reports , Sony will be spending around $50 million on promoting their new handheld game system. Sony is teaming with the marketing team at Deutsch to create a string of advertisements called “Never Stop Playing”, and will be rolling them out on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, as well as running commercials on shows such as The Simpsons, South Park, and during NBA and NCAA basketball games.
It looks like Sony is placing a lot of faith in their new handheld. I guess we’ll find out soon whether or not Sony’s faith is justified.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/sony-spending-50-million-on-ps-vita-marketing-6350246
Story 2:
Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney was at the DICE conference last week talking about graphics and visuals, and has some interesting things to say about their next graphics engine.
Sweeney stated that in order to create a just good enough representation of visual reality, a graphics engine would need to create around 5000 teraflops per second, which is A LOT. By comparison he said, the Xbox 360 can currently create about 0.25 teraflops per second. He then stated that in order to run their latest version of the current Unreal Engine 3, called Samaritan, it would take an Xbox 10 times more powerful than what is currently available.
We don’t yet know what will be under the hoods of the next Xbox or Playstation, but if Tim Sweeney has any say, they will probably still be too wimpy to handle HIS new engine.

Now the carmaker presents a massively revamped A4 series. The design is even bolder. The horizontal lines at the front are more pronounced, and the bulge in the hood is more prominent. The revamped engines are said to consume up to 11% less fuel. Together, the sedan and Avant wagon models offer a choice of six TDI and four diesel versions. From racing models to electric mobility, drive it! presents new sports cars with a long tradition and workhorses for tomorrow's everyday driving.examine it! Headlight HeadacheOne look under the hood and that's enough to frighten off many motorists. The headlights on modern cars are well hidden among the car's inner workings so getting to them often demands blood, sweat and tears. That means changing headlight bulbs is a staple job for many mechanics, and now more so than ever. Today's generation of cars are designed in a way that drastically reduces the lifespan of headlight bulbs. vintage: The Farmyard Do-it-yourselfer87-year old Willi Hoffmann always dreamed of working on airplanes. That boyhood dream never worked out, but the farmer's fascination with mechanical contraptions is still as strong as ever. He's transformed his barns into shrines to cars, tractors and farmyard equipment from bygone times, and everything in them works like new.The centerpiece of Willi's collection is an old Opel Olympia from 1938, which runs on firewood!present it! The BMW M5Normally, business class sedans are kept on a short leash. They diligently fulfil their duties, bringing their drivers and passengers from point A to B. But some models just don't fit in. Like the BMW M5.Since 1984 it's been one of the leading high performance sedans in the premium class. Now the Bavarians have unveiled the fifth generation of this super-sports car. The high-revving 4.4 liter V8 engine with M TwinPower turbo technology puts out a staggering 412 kilowatts of power. drive it! unleashed this animal on the race track. picture it! MIA - The Electric Citymobile for AllMIA is a SHE. That's according to her creator, the former VW chief designer Murat Günak. She's more than an electric car. She's a whole new brand and, if Günak gets his way, a revolution in mobility. Several versions go into mass production in 2012.They include a three-seater, a four-seater and a kind of van for cargo transport. The basic model with the smallest battery costs 23,500 euros - and will last for 80 kilometers between chargings. Some 10 thousand units are to be built next year in France. test it! The VW SharanIn Volkswagen's European model spectrum, the 5-, 6- or 7-seater Sharan is the bridge between the Touran minivan and the big Multivan. Its second generation has been on the market for a year now. It's 22 cm longer yet 30 kg lighter than its predecessor. The new Sharan sports sliding doors on both sides built to improve access to the second and third seating rows. After all, it's the variable seating that has made this model so attractive to families. drive it! put the new Sharan through its paces. How much space is there really for passengers and luggage?

Varley's evR450 all-electric supercar set to hit Australian roads next year "As Autoblog Green points out, Australia's Varley Electric Vehicles is known more for bulky industrial vehicles than high-end sports cars, but the company's now looking to change that perception with its new all-electric evR450 supercar. While it'll no doubt turn a few heads simply standing still, it also looks to measure up reasonably well under the hood, boasting a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour (or 124 MPH) and a zero to 100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds. The company's also promising a range of 150 kilometers (or 93 miles) that can be doubled with an optional range-extension pack, although its not letting anyone actually drive the car just yet (or even look under the hood, for that matter). As for a price, Varley's saying that the base package will come in ""below"" $200,000 Australian dollars (or about $213,000 US), and it says it could roll out ""as early as January 2012.""

In an article in the British Newspaper, the Financial Times, he supported "the moral agenda" of the protesters and says that many people see the protest "as the expression of a widespread and deep exasperation with the financial establishment."
