http://macmost.com/ You can email a slideshow to a friend by exporting the slideshow from iPhoto as a video and then attaching that file to the message. But there are many good reasons not to use email, but instead share the video online and send a link instead.

250 - [FS] MacMontage 15 [Free Show]
[LESS INFO] 14 VIEWS | ADDED 09:02:41 05/20/10
[Full Free Show] Following on from last week's Mac Montage, there were a few other bits and pieces I needed to catch up on, so this week, it's another Mac Montage!
This week's show covers:
WideMail Un-Install: Although I've had zero problems with this mail plugin, some people have experienced some issues and wanted to uninstall the plugin. This section shows you how to uninstall WideMail correctly to avoid any issues, as well as a solution if you have uninstalled and hit problems.
MobileMe Mail Beta: Apple have recently released a new version of their webmail service and unusually, are running it as a beta service. This section shows you how to sign up for the beta, reviews the new user interface, describes some of the new and improved features and shows you how to take advantage of the most significant new feature - server side rules.
TotalFinder: A new utility to add some extra functionality to the Finder in Snow Leopard. This new utility adds "chrome" like tabs to the standard Finder application, along with a dual pane mode. My favourite is the inclusion of Visor mode, the ability to have the Finder pop up from the bottom of the screen in a fixed pane mode - very cool!
Enhanced AppleScript for Extracting Email Attachments: Following on from last weeks segment on using DropBox to sync files between your Mac and iPad, but more importantly, how to email attachments into DropBox, this segment brings you a more complex AppleScript which actually reduces the complexity of the process. The revised AppleScript removes the need for an additional mail account and the Automator actions. This simplified workflow allows you to send emails with attachments to your normal Apple mail account, and identify attachments to be extracted using the Subject line - much easier! Much appreciation to Mark Dalton for publishing the script on the ScreenCastsOnine forum.

[Trailer for Extra! Members Only Show] Time for another MacMontage!
This time it's a three parter. The first part is all about using the OSX Proxy icon. The what? The OSX Proxy icon! This is the small icon that sits in the title bar of the Finder and many other OSX applications. It's not there just for show, but can be made to do some pretty useful things. This week's show explains just what you can do with it including:
Using OS X Proxy Icon
Proxy Icon in the Finder
Proxy Icon in Applications
Proxy Icon in Safari
The second part of the show is slightly different in that I take you through a detailed five stage process on setting up a method of using email to send attachments into your Dropbox folder structure. Designed with a specific purpose of assisting easy file transfer between your desktop Macs and your iPad, the technique uses many different applications and features of OSX demonstrating just how powerful your Mac can be. It doesn't matter if you're not an iPad user, as the techniques and processes are just as relevant if you're a Mac only, or mac and iPhone user. The techniques and processes covered include:
Step 1 - Setting up a separate Gmail Account
Step 2 - Add Gmail account into Mail.app
Step 3 - Creating an Automator Workflow
Step 4 - Creating an AppleScript for Mail Rule
Step 5 - Setting & Testing Mail Rules
The third and final part is a brief look at the new Dropbox client on the iPad. I demonstrate how easy it is to access and view your Dropbox files from your iPad, including the files added to Dropbox using the Email method covered in the earlier part of the show. I also show you how easy it is to get your Dropbox files into iWork on the iPad plus how to export them via Mail to put back into Dropbox. Finally, a quick suggestion for maintaining a single master copy of your documents either in Dropbox or on your iPad.

246 - [FS] 1Password 3 [Full Free Show]
[LESS INFO] 11 VIEWS | ADDED 09:38:20 04/23/10
Time to revisit an old friend, one of the most essential Mac applications around - 1Password.
1Password is the outstanding password manager and auto form filler from Agile Web Solutions. It's an application I've covered before, but it's recently had a complete revamp, with lots of new and improved features.
Resplendent in it's gorgeous new user interface design, the changes in 1Password 3 run much deeper than on first glance.
This show is not just an update show, but takes you back to basics with 1Password along with reviewing most of the new features in the application. Even if you're an experience 1Password user, I'm confident you'll find some features of the application you didn't know existed. Internet security needs to be taken seriously and all to often, we fall into the trap of using the same password on multiple systems. If your password is compromised on one system, then all the other systems are wide open. Add in the ever increasing sophistication of "Phishing" websites, and identity theft becomes areal concern.
1Password v3 allows you to create and seamlessly manage strong multiple passwords across all your services. Better still, 1Password identifies which website you're accessing and can supply your login details automatically, from keyboard shortcuts or through deep integration with a wide range of leading Mac browsers. But it's not just limited to passwords, 1Password has been extended to cover all aspects of your digital identity and online presence. From system accounts, online identities, credit card details and a whole host of other important information, 1Password has been designed to be a secure, encrypted repository for all your digital information. You can even store file attachments right inside the secure 1Password keychain.
1Password v3 also includes 1PasswordAnywhere, allowing you to access your information from any computer connected to the Internet with a modern browser.
If you're an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad owner, 1Password is also available on these devices, allowing you to sync your important data wirelessly from your Mac on your local network.
The full show covers:
Introduction to 1Password
Installation
Importing Passwords
Using 1Password
Capturing Web Logins
Fill & Submit
Go & Fill
Go & Fill HUD
1Click Bookmarks
New User Interface
Smart Search
Storing Accounts
Managing Identities
Strong Password Generator
Secure Notes
Managing Software Licenses
Attachments
Wallet
1PasswordAnywhere & Dropbox Sync
1PasswordAnywhere via USB Drive
Syncing Multiple Macs
Wrap Up & Special Offer
This week's show also includes a special ScreenCastsOnline 25% discount for new users of 1Password. Existing users can get upgrades at an already discounted price. Full details in this week's show - NB. The 25% discount offer expires on 30th June 2010

Videomail, video mail and video email. is a short usually five second to ten minute, length, freshly recorded video sent to someone's email inbox. Usually a videomail is merely a link to the video which is streamed to the viewer from a videomail provider or host computer upon the viewers request.
A videomail host computer that serves up the videomail when you are ready to watch it. Previous versions were large uncompressed video files, slow to download, and often was nothing more than a choppy video attachment and was not very useful.
Today's streaming videomail is the new text email with impact. Video mail has a big future, because it moves people, emotionally and visually, a video mail can communicate well and is personable in nature. Because of the wide availability of broadband Internet connections videomail technlogy has started to take a bigger role in video communication on the Internet.
As Internet users discover uses for videomail, Internet technology companies have begun offering both fee based and free videomail sending services. This has helped consumers to begin using and experimenting with different services.
To send a videomail a user needs a video capture device usually a web cam and a computer with an Internet connection. A simple Search engine query will direct users to more than eighteen companies currently offering the videomail, video mail and video email service.
Videomail providers vary greatly in features, reliability, reporting, customization, video quality, video player types, templates and bulk mail capabilities.
The compression of videomail streams usually allow the viewer to watch over a wireless connection. This is another factor that is expected to foster growth of the industry.

PDF Viruses
[LESS INFO] 14 VIEWS | ADDED 17:07:06 07/02/07
http://live.pirillo.com/ - In the past few days there have been a large number of e-mails with PDF attachments, but the e-mail isn't from anyone we know. Is it spam or something sinister?
One of our community members became concerned when his antivirus software did not filter out the PDF files, because he was convinced that they were nothing more than a virus driveby.
SecureComupting.net.au reports that there is a round of PDF spam going around, in an attempt to get around most spam filters, since PDF files are generally not filtered.
The good news is that is isn't a virus, the bad news is that it's spam.
Do you have any advice for filtering out new form of spam?
