Activists are saying the oppressive regime was what triggered the unrest in Tibet. On Tuesday, the Chinese regime defended its shooting of unarmed Tibetan protesters in China's Sichuan Province on the first and second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. Overseas Tibetan advocacy groups said at least seven Tibetans were killed and dozens were wounded during the two days of shooting. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said external forces had instigated the protests and the series of self-immolations in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The Foreign Ministry spokesman called the unarmed protesters criminals. [Liu Weimin, Foreign Ministry Spokesman]: "Currently the situation has been effectively dealt with. We believe that the recent series of events had clearly been masterminded and stirred up by someone behind the scenes." The Chinese regime blames exiled Tibetans, including the Dalai Lama%mdashthe Tibetan spiritual leader%mdashwho fled to India after a failed uprising in 1959, for encouraging the protests. The New York Times reported recently on the harsh work conditions at Apple suppliers in China. Now some consumers are saying they would rather pay more for the products. A recent New York Times report on the cruel working conditions inside Foxconn Technology, and other Apple suppliers in China, is getting a lot of attention. The report says employees assembling Apple products often "Labor in harsh conditions...work excessive overtime, in some cases seven days a week, and live in crowded dorms...Some say they stand so long that their legs swell until they can hardly walk." Moreover, workers also face serious safety threats, sometimes deadly. Two explosions caused by aluminum dust last year at two Foxconn plants killed four people and injured 77. Two years ago, 137 workers were injured after they were ordered to switch from rubbing alcohol to a toxic chemical, n-hexane, to clean iPhone screens. In recent years, there have been reports of workers jumping from dorm buildings in apparent suicide attempts due to harsh management practices. [Masco Calbone, Tourist]: "Safety comes first ... Seventeen years ago, MIKE GILLIS killed a new mother of twin girls and took the babies to a house in the woods, claiming them as his own to appease his wife’s desire for kids. After Mike committed multiple murders over seven years to “protect” the growing girls locked in the basement, even finally killing his wife, one day a fire in the house causes it to collapse on Mike and the twins. In present day, STACY WALKER flees to her uncle’s old secluded cabin in those same woods to escape her abusive boyfriend. Once there, her head begins to clear and she feels free to be with her thoughts. That first night she is haunted by the ghosts of the little girls crying for their mother. Meanwhile, DETECTIVE BLACK is investigating the 17-year-old case of the twins’ disappearance and their mother’s murder. The cold trail suddenly turns warm when the case leads to the same secluded mountainous region where Stacy has escaped. As Stacy is beginning to figure out her life, as well as trying to unravel the mystery of her visions, Stacy’s friends, unaware of her abused past, bring her boyfriend up to see her. Stacy is on the brink of insanity as the twin ghosts keep reappearing. As Black gets closer to the truth, Stacy finds herself in the middle of a murder spree.”

New Cassettes - "Silent Guns": SXSW 2012 Showcasing Artist
NEW CASSETTES is a five-piece band from Northampton, England who delivers a fresh blast of modern rock that is artful, edgy and infectious. Evoking a fascinating blend of classic indie rock, pop and new wave, yet thoroughly 21st Century. Spiky guitars go head to head with propulsive rhythms and hook-filled choruses and the band is fast-gaining critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic. The quintet have been leaving audiences swooning since 2005, from supporting the Strokes to playing Glastonbury, Latitude and Wireless Festivals, releasing three singles and their debut album The Art Of... in the UK and Japan. They're now well seasoned and ready for the frontlines as they deliver their second full-length album, \"Winterhead\" on March 6, 2012 via MTV's Hype Music. \"Winterhead\" was mixed by with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and sound engineer Geoff Sanoff (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, School of Seven Bells). New Cassettes released the \"Silent Guns Deluxe EP\" in November 2011 and premiered the video and download of the title track through the good folks at PureVolume. "New Cassettes have perfected the art of indie-rock cool with the awesomely infectious 'Silent Guns',\" commends Alyssa Coluccio of PureVolume.
