I Fanboy Episode #230 More All Ages Comics
[LESS INFO] 11 VIEWS | ADDED 12:55:05 09/14/11
Comics aren’t just for 35 year old dudes anymore! Nope, publishers and creators are making a valiant effort to produce comics for everyone. They’re not always the easiest to find, but we’re here to help. For the young kids, there are Yo Gabba Gabba comics from Oni. There are also books from Image/Shadowline like T. Runt and Dear Dracula. As the kids get older, you can find plenty more books that are for young and old alike. Check out Fraggle Rock from Archaia, or the Three Thieves series from cartoonist Scott Chantler, for fantasy adventure. Even Marvel superstar Brian Michael Bendis and his longtime collaborator Michael Avon Oeming produced the kid friendly superhero book, Takio. Then, everyone should be able to find something fun in the western Reed Gunther, from Image Comics. Finally, there’s a Eisner winning original fairy tale, Return of the Dapper Men from Jim McCann and Janet K. Lee. Comics can be good for everyone, even kids!

I Fanboy Episode #224 San Diego Comic Con 2011 Part 1
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 12:55:07 08/03/11
Strap in kids, because iFanboy have brought you a lot of San Diego Comic-Con, and unlike most of your bigger media outlets, we're talking to comics people, about comics. This is but part one of three, and we bring you up close and personal with the most talented and interesting names in comics. Mark Waid is a crafty veteran, and when Marvel needed someone to put a fresh spin on the shadowy and slightly mildewy Daredevil, he answered the call. Only one issue in, and he's already basking in critical and fan praise. Daredevil is fun, and it's about time. Over at BOOM! Studios, Mark celebrated his creator owned series, Irredeemable by releasing a great big Definitive Irredeemable in hardcover, oversized slipcase glory. Things are looking up for Cullen Bunn. Since we last spoke, his creator owned series, along with Brian Hurtt, The Sixth Gun has been commissioned for a six episode mini-series on SyFy. While that's big enough news, he's also been named the writer on Marvel's new origin series of graphic novels, in charge of Spider-Man Season One. And why not throw in an original graphic novel called The Tooth, about a giant sentient tooth. It's wacky time. You might know Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill, but soon Archaia will release his original comic book, Everlast, a post apocalyptic adventure on a grand scale. You want to know more? That will be here. Judd Winick is excited. He's excited to be able to talk to Conor about what's happening finally! Here's what we know: Catwoman is sexy, and Batwing is going to be one hell of a ride. Seriously, he's pretty amped about it all. Joshua Hale Fialkov is polite and considerate. Yet his work can be deeply troubling. His mini-series Echoes was recently released in hardcover, and no one would recommend you read it just before bed. He's also got a part in the new DC lineup with I, Vampire, which he tells us all about. Finally, he's got one issue to convince you to love The Test in this year's Top Cow Pilot Season. Scott Snyder has come a long way in not much time, and he couldn't be more enthusiastic about his assignments. Moving on from Detective Comics, he's taking the reins of Batman along with Greg Capullo, and he'll let us know what to expect there. Then there's Swamp Thing coming up, which he's loving as well. Finally, over at Image, he's got a creator owned mini-series called Severed, about a creepy hobo. OK, it's more than that, but either way, it sounds fantastic. He's back! It's Brian K. Vaughan, and early next year we'll see the start of his first new series in years! Joining him on the show, and in creating Saga from Image, is wonderful artist Fiona Staples. There's not a lot to know yet, but if you've read a whole Vaughan series in the past, you know this is going to be great. Come back next week for more from San Diego!

New York Comic Con Part 3 I Fanboy Episode #185
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 12:55:05 10/27/10
Here's the final installment of our coverage of the 2010 New York Comic Con from the Jacob Javitts Center. This year's coverage wraps up with an incredible bang, and some surprise guests, as a chat with one of our longtime guests spins out of control, yet again. Jason Aaron just gets better and better with every comic book he puts out. With his recent relaunch of Wolverine, and the unstoppable quality of his Vertigo series, Scalped, Aaron is on top of his game. Plus he got to meet his longtime collaborator RM Guera for the first time in New York. Will Scalped survive the experience? Ben Templesmith and Mike Kennedy talk about their work with Archaia on the Crimecraft comic book offshoot, Bleed Out. Plus Ben updates us on the status of Choker, which he promises will finish! Tony Daniel does it all for Batman. He writes and draws the main Batman title, and works with all the other writers in the Batverse. Conor talks with the Batman multitasker about his take on Dick vs. Bruce, and what's coming up. Chris Eliopoulos has done everything there is to do in comics. He writes, draws, and letters his own books, as well as produced 3 years worth of daily Misery Loves Sherman web strips, recently collected into a book. Additionally, Chris is a champion of all ages and kids comics, and the industry's need to hook new readers. He's walked the walk with his work on Franklin Richards and Pet Avengers. Jimmy Palmiotti talks about the incredibly diverse range of books with his name, like Jonah Hex, Time Bomb, and Freedom Fighters, as well as the recent changes at DC Comics. There's even some hugging. Robert Kirkman joins us yet again, and turns something into nothing. With AMC's Walking Dead TV series on the horizon, Robert's a little low on sleep, and that just add fuel to the wacky fire. Robert's joined by unexpected guests like director Frank Darabont, and cast members Laurie Holden and Steven Yuen, and some guy with glasses. It's the best way to close out your New York Comic Con experience.
