Wheel of Drunken Fortune
[LESS INFO] 2 VIEWS | ADDED 02:59:43 02/01/12
Welcome to ICBW.tv
Actress Demi Moore was rushed to a hospital after allegedly becoming semi-consciousness as a result of inhaling whip-its. Whip-its Demi? You’re like 50 years-old. You’re not a teenager anymore, and doing the drugs of a teenager still wont make Ashton Kutcher come back to you.
Everywhere I turn, people are freaking out about Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak discussing the fact that he and co-host Vanna White would down a few margaritas between tapings of their show back in the 80s. Why wouldn’t they? Is Pat Sajak’s job so taxing that he can’t be a little lubed up? Think about it. Pat Sajak says three phrases; Welcome to Wheel of Fortune, Spin the wheel, Would you like to buy a vowel?. That’s it. And Vanna, she just had to walk to the white box that lit up. Even Demi Moore on whip-its could handle that?

There are reports that NBC executives are now potentially balking at airing an episode of Fear Factor that involves contestants drinking donkey goo. I’ve never understood Fear Factory. Seriously, what fear involves drinking a glass of donkey goo? I’m deathly afraid of being at the center of a donkey party. One final question, who was responsible for getting the donkey goo?
Update: NBC has officially taken the "donkey goo " episode off the schedule.

Joe Jonas Rushed to the Hospital
[LESS INFO] 6 VIEWS | ADDED 14:19:16 12/20/11
Welcome to ICBW.tv
Breaking news from Hollywood - Joe Jonas from the famous Jonas Brothers was rushed to a L.A. hospital because of severe stomach pains. No word yet on if the tummy aches are anyway connected to his vagina.
Chaz Bono and his fiancee, Jennifer , have called off their engagement. The official reason for the break-up is unknown at this time. Those close to the couple say that things started downhill, when Chaz started growing more chins than facial hair. Look at those cheeks, she makes King Kong Bundy look like a middleweight.
James Cameron is being sued for over $2 billion for allegedly stealing the idea for Avatar . Accuser Bryant Moore, writer of such non-epics like “Aquatica” and “Descendants: The Pollination” was able to give us some comments. (that you'll have to watch to see)

RnRTV #263 - Ace Frehley Falls, Dave Grohl, Detroit Says No Nickelback!
[LESS INFO] 4 VIEWS | ADDED 20:47:14 11/07/11
Rock n Roll TV gives you chunky, tasty bits of music news! Hosted by Share Ross - rocker for life! This episode - Ace Frehley; Michael Jackson's Immortal album with no Dave Grohl; CD's abandoned; Insane Clown Posse sued and 40,000 say no Nickelback.
In support of his new book, No Regrets: A Rock n Roll Memoir Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has been out playing shows. At a gig in New York City, he was in the middle of his trademark guitar solo and wandered a bit too far to the edge of the stage and oops!
Michael Jackson's posthumous album "Immortal" features newly discovered outtakes and redesigned versions of some of his biggest hits. Dave Grohl is credited with playing drums on a track "I can't make it another day" which features Lenny Kravitz on bv's, guitar and several other instruments. Thing is… Dave is not actually on the track. The sleeve notes state… Michael Jackson featuring Lenny Kravitz and Dave Grohl except… he's not actually on the album. Lame.
The news is flying around that the major labels plan to abandon the cd format by the end of 2012. It will be replaced with downloads and streaming only and cd's will only be available for limited editions and will be sold through Amazon. Changes… they are a-comin'.
Rap group Insane Clown Posse has been hit with a $2 million lawsuit over alleged illicit samples on seven separate songs.
Axl Rose has been suffering from both bronchitis AND Montezuma's Revenge.
Rihanna was forced to cancel a gig in Sweden after she was rushed to the hospital with a flu virus.
Did Paul McCartney forget something? He didn't send out an invite to Julian Lennon for his wedding to Nancy Shevell. What's that about Paul?

40,000 Detroit rock fans have said NO to Nickelback . The Canadian band have been booked to appear at the nationally televised Thanksgiving game between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers on November 24th. But 40,000 rock fans have signed a petition calling for Nickelback to be ditched as the half time entertainment. Seriously. The birthplace of Motown … AND the White Stripes… I think we all expect a rock and soul from Detroit.

RnRTV #253: John Frusciante Stalked and Aretha Sings Outta Ticket!
[LESS INFO] 2 VIEWS | ADDED 14:25:47 08/23/11
Rock news to keep you in the know on Rock n Roll TV hosted by Share Ross - DevilDriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer hospitalized; Ex RHCP guitarist John Frusciante stalked; Outdoor stage collapse again; Slash hooks up with Mary J Blige; Aretha sings out of a ticket for mate.
Devildriver guitarist Mike Spreitzer was rushed to hospital after suffering a seizure. He will miss the band's upcoming tour of South America as the band will carry on with one guitarist. Mike woke up in the emergency room, is doing okay now and is expected to make a full recovery.
Former Red Hot Chili Pepper guitarist, John Frusciante says it started with a fan allegedly asking to write a screenplay about his life. But she wouldn't take no for an answer. The fan is August Elizabeth Thomas and for the past year she's been emailing and sending long rambling letters to John. She has also showed up at his concerts to talk to him about her script. Finally, in July Miss Thomas turned up at his home two days in a row. John has filed a request most likely for a restraining order in the county of Los Angeles.
Another outdoor stage collapsed due to sudden high winds. This time it was in Indiana at the state fair as band Sugarland was about to perform. 5 people were killed and 45 people were injured. As a result, Cheap Trick are canceling their upcoming date in vancouver where they were scheduled to play on an outdoor stage built by the same people who handled the Indiana setup.
Guitar legend Greg Allman is canceling some of his late summer shows due to doctor's orders.
Slash brought in Mary J Blige for a track on his newest solo album.
Ransacked in the London riots was Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green clothing store in Manchester.
Muse are heading back into the studio to begin work on their sixth album.

Hacking Data
[LESS INFO] 1 VIEWS | ADDED 22:23:00 03/22/11
I saw a note recently that researchers had successfully hacked a car using only an MP3 file on a CD . They were able to lock the doors and kill the engine in a car. That doesn't necessarily sound too scary until you consider that the ability to kill any percentage of car engines during rush hour traffic could have catastrophic results.
How much of an issue is this? I don't know, but as long as there is some interpreter that has to decode digital data and render it as audio, video, or even text, there is the chance that additional code could be added to hack the system and allow someone to take control. When I think about all the ways that we get digital data these days, it is truly a scary thought that we could have these security holes.

Kim Mitchell. Guitarist, singer, songwriter, broadcaster, b Sarnia, Ont, 10 Jul 1952. Kim Mitchell grew up in Sarnia and moved to Toronto at age 17, where he played guitar in bar bands. He was the manic frontman 1972-81 for the quirky hard-rock band Max Webster, which, in its heyday, also included the Sarnia musicians Terry Watkinson (keyboards), Dave Myles (bass), and Gary McCracken (drums). A fifth member, lyricist Pye Dubois, did not perform with the band. Based in Toronto, Max Webster was equally one of the most popular and most original rock bands in Canada during the late 1970s, known for its LPs, all of which sold at least 50,000 copies, and for its hyperactive concerts. Max Webster performed widely in Canada and by 1980 had toured with Rush in the USA, Great Britain, and Europe. In collaboration with Dubois, Mitchell wrote such popular Max Webster songs as "Hangover," "High Class in Borrowed Shoes," and "Paradise Skies." The band is also remembered for "A Million Vacations," "Let Go the Line," etc.

Mitchell's Solo Career
Mitchell turned to a solo career in 1982, after working as session guitarist and producer. He formed a band that included, most notably, the singer and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, drums) Peter Fredette until 1990. Pye Dubois remained as Mitchell's lyricist, and their collaborations continued to capture the concerns and diversions of the teenaged Canadian male. The singles "Go for Soda" and "All We Are" (1984), "Patio Lanterns" and "Alana Loves Me" (1986), and "Easy to Tame" (1987) were popular. The autobiographical "Rock 'n' Roll Duty" was a major Canadian hit in 1989, followed that year by "Rocklandwonderland" and in 1990 by the lesser hits "Expedition Sailor" and "I Am a Wild Party." The LP Shakin' Like a Human Being received the 1986 Juno Award as album of the year and sold more than 300,000 copies. Mitchell himself received a Juno in 1983 as most promising male vocalist and in 1990 as male vocalist of the year. Juno nominations followed in 1991 and 1993. Sales of the albums akimbo alogo and Rockland exceeded 200,000.
Behind Mitchell's somewhat unconventional image - a face typically framed by two long hanks of hair and an Ontario Provincial Police cap - there is a rock guitarist of imagination (he was a pupil of Tony Bradan ) and a pop songwriter of considerable craft. About his preference to collaborate with a lyricist, Mitchell stated, "I hate writing lyrics .... I speak through my six strings" ( Peterborough This Week , 17 Aug 1995).
His performing career has been largely confined to Canada, where he has been especially popular on the summer concert circuit. He appeared regularly during the 1980s at the Kingswood Music Theatre, in Maple, Ont, where his concerts to 1988 had a combined attendance of more than 100,000.
After 1990
Mitchell's career after the 1980s heyday experienced dry spells. He released the albums Aural Fixations (1992, with lyricist Andy Curran); Itch (1994, with Dubois as lyricist); and after a five-year gap, Kimosabe . Only Fixations achieved gold status; a 1995 greatest hits compilation went platinum. Mitchell continued to perform during the summers, often in clubs and small venues and occasional larger concerts such as in Buffalo, NY, in July 2000, where he played outdoors for 20,000 attendees. During this period Max Webster also performed occasional reunion gigs. Mitchell announced his retirement from recording in 2001. For a time he wrote commercial jingles. In Aug 2004, he began broadcasting for Toronto rock radio station Q107 (CILQ-FM). In 2007 he came out of retirement to record Ain't Life Amazing , and undertook a cross-country tour.

Welcome to our Christmas edition of Music Video Reform School. In this episode we look at Christmas videos from Chris Brown and Wham.
Chris Brown:
BIO: (from allmusic.com )
In November 2005, Chris Brown’s Scott Storch-produced “Run It!” -- a rewrite of Usher’s “Yeah!” -- topped the Billboard Hot 100, making the 16-year-old singer the first male artist in over a decade to top the chart with a debut single. While there was nowhere to go but down, at least in terms of chart positions, the pop-oriented R%B vocalist was only getting started. By the end of the decade, he was one of the biggest active pop stars, with a clutch of Top Ten singles and platinum albums to his credit, along with constant comparisons to Michael Jackson and several acting roles on the side. His momentum slowed little when, in 2009, he pleaded guilty to assaulting girlfriend Rihanna -- one of the year’s biggest celebrity news stories.
Brown came from a small Virginia town called Tappahannock. Like a lot of kids born since the early '80s, he was initially into his parents' favorite music but eventually fell under the spell of hip-hop. Around the time he reached puberty, he discovered his singing ability and switched his focus away from MC'ing. A move to New York led to being discovered by Tina Davis, a Def Jam A%R executive who became the singer’s manager shortly after losing her position to the Sony-BMG merger. The Jive label, due in part to its track record with younger artists who had established longevity (like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake), won the bidding war for Brown and lined up several production and songwriting heavyweights, including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Dre & Vidal, Sean Garrett, and Storch, for his self-titled first album. An immediate Top Ten hit when it was released in 2005, Chris Brown not only featured the number one “Run It!” but two other Top Ten singles in “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Say Goodbye.” Exclusive, released in 2007 and a bit of a departure from the squeaky-clean image displayed throughout the debut, was even more successful, featuring the number one single "Kiss Kiss" and two other Top Five hits. Yet another Top Five hit came with “No Air,” a duet with Jordin Sparks that appeared on Sparks' own self-titled album.
In March 2009, Brown was charged with felonious assault of Rihanna -- an altercation that had prevented his then-girlfriend from taking the stage at the Grammy Awards. Brown was scheduled to perform as well, but he did not appear and maintained a low profile for several months. A fairly substantial backlash resulted in Brown’s songs being pulled from rotation on several radio stations. Ultimately, however, it had little bearing on the progress of his music and acting careers; the week prior to the December release of his third album, Graffiti, the single “I Can Transform Ya” was already nearing the Top 20 of the Hot 100, and his acting roles -- which had already included spots in Stomp the Yard and a recurring role on The O.C. -- hadn’t shown any sign of drying up.

Wham
BIO: (from allmusic.com )
Wham! sparked something of a pop revival in the mid-'80s and could arguably be held responsible for sparking off the boy band trend of the '90s. They were unashamedly pop, to the point of padding the front of their trousers for television appearances. At the heart, however, was a string of catchy singalong singles written by George Michael (born Georgios Kyrriacos Panayiotou in London to a Greek restauranting family).
George met Wham!'s other half, Andrew Ridgeley, at school in the London suburb of Bushey, and in 1979 they started performing together as part of the ska-based band the Executive. When that group dissolved, they wrote songs, made demos, and rushed into a recording contract with the equally eager independent label Innervision, scoring an instant hit with "Wham Rap!" (they thought that "wham" was the sound they made when Michael and Ridgeley performed together). In order to move to a recording contract with Sony label Epic, Wham! was forced to walk away from most of the royalties from their debut album, Fantastic. None of that mattered when their 1984 single, "Wake Me up Before You Go Go," became a worldwide hit, accompanied by a video of the pair cavorting in their sportswear. Almost immediately, George Michael started thinking of a solo career, and released "Careless Whisper," issued in the U.S. under George Michael of Wham!
Wham!'s end came suddenly two years later, in 1985, reputedly when the group's manager, Simon Napier-Bell (later to manage Take That), decided to sell a share of his management to a South African entertainment conglomerate. Supposedly, as part of a stand against South African politics, George Michael immediately announced Wham!'s breakup. They gave their farewell performance before a sold-out audience of 72,000 fans at London's Wembley Stadium.
George Michael comfortably stepped straight into his own highly successful solo performing and recording career. Andrew Ridgeley's post Wham! album, Son of Albert, sold poorly and produced just one minor hit, "Shake."
