Tibetan Singer LOLO Arrested by Chinese Authorities for singing about Tibet's Independence
Share this Video to expose China's brutal occupation of Tibet *Click here for more Tibet videos www.youtube.com April 23, 2012: Chinese authorities in eastern Tibet have arrested a well-known Tibetan singer on suspected charges of singing songs calling for Tibet's independence. Lo Lo, 29, was arrested on April 19 in Yushul region of eastern Tibet. According to Lobsang Sangyal, an exile monk in south India, the singer's arrest came months after he released an album titled "Raise the flag of Tibet, sons of the snow." News Link: phayul.com The title song of the album calls for independence of Tibet and reunion of the Tibetan people -- messages that are common to the slogans raised by the 35 Tibetans who have self-immolated in Tibet since 2009. "To promote loyalty to the Land of Snows, For the complete independence of Tibet, With a realised understanding of our objectives, Raise the flag of Tibet- sons of the snow," a portion of the lyrics reads. In the song, Lo Lo further sings for the "return of the saviour" to Tibet and "reunion of the Tibetan people." Lo Lo's arrest is part of a wider crackdown on Tibetan intellectuals, writers, and artists, including singers and filmmakers. Tibetans promoting Tibetan national identity and culture have been the target of China's ongoing onslaught on intellectuals, especially after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In mid February, another popular Tibetan singer, Ugyen Tenzin was arrested by the Chinese government for praising the His Holiness ... 500 Workers Protest in Fujian, Drive Away Riot Police
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me It's been a week since this group of workers in China's Fujian province went on strike. They work for Fujian Nandian Co., which makes hydroelectric power equipment. They say the company didn't give them proper compensation when it transitioned from a state-owned enterprise to a privately owned enterprise at the end of 2011. "For companies that change from state-owned enterprises to a privately owned enterprises, our worker identities shift. [They have to] buy out [the workers], but [the new owner] said he doesn't have the money, so [he's] not willing to buy us out." That's why the workers' strike continues. Starting on March 27th, Nandian employees began gathering to defend their rights. On the 29th, more than 500 employees walked in the rain while holding up banners saying "punish the corrupt officials, give workers back their hard-earned money." Even retired employees from other cities like Xiamen and Fuzhou went to help. On the 29th, local authorities sent riot police to stop the protest. "Armed police came out to block them off. There were a lot of employees; they are very united. Some employees said, 'I'm not here to fight with you. We are here to defend our rights.' About five or six hundred people went over and surrounded them. The riot police saw this, got scared, and left." The local mayor finally sent out a work team to the factory, but employees ... For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me Chinese media recently reported on the lack of a bidding process for suppliers of China's railway industry. Contracts are being directly awarded to suppliers who rely on their connections with officials. This has led to inflated prices and sub-standard parts. According to state-run media, parts for China's high-speed rail network were not procured through open bidding, but instead through suppliers directly appointed by the regime. Many of these suppliers have links with officials in the Railway Ministry or other parts of the administration. The supplier directory of the CSR Corporation, the company that makes the high-speed trains, reveals suppliers with obvious links to transport officials. For example, the ex-wife of the director of the transport bureau, Zhang Shuguang, imports vacuum toilets for the trains. Like or Thumbs Up to show your support for Tibetan people Click here for more Tibet videos www.youtube.com China isincurring huge expenditure in transferring and consolidating the Chinese population in Tibet. Massive investment has been made to build a network of modern highways all over Tibet. China can also boast of having laid the highest railway track in the world that connects Lhasa with Beijing. In fact, China often complains that its "civilizing" mission in Tibet is costing the government and people of China large amounts in terms of subsidies to an under-developed region. According to official Chinese statistics, the level of annual subsidies to the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR) in the late 1980s was around 1 billion yuan or $270 million. However, all the infrastructure that China has built in Tibet has not made the lives of the native Tibetans any better; it has only taken the exploitative apparatuses of the Chinese government deeper. Link: woodsmoke.wordpress.com China's Ministry of Land and Resources has announced monumental new resource discoveries all across Tibet. The findings are the culmination of a secret 7-year, $44 million survey project, which began in 1999. More than 1000 researchers were divided into 24 separate groups and fanned out across the Qinghai-Tibet plateau to geologically map the entire Tibetan region. Their findings have lead to a discovery of 16 major new deposits of copper, iron, lead, zinc and other minerals worth an estimated $128 ... This video "I Am Tibetan" was first posted on a Chinese video-hosting website on December 19, 2009 and has been circulating widely. It came later to be posted on YouTube by a Tibetan called Jigdo and is now being disseminated by Tibetans all over the world through social networking sites such as Facebook. To those who don't know Tibetan, the video seemingly looks like a random talking heads video. Once you understand what the people are saying, it is one of the most powerful and creative videos we have seen from Tibet. The camera focuses on random Tibetans, each statement begins with "I am Tibetan" and the next speaker goes on to describe the reason. The video has already inspired Tibetans in Dharamsala to replicate the concept. Link www.highpeakspureearth.com The dramatic music in the background creates a strong sense of mood and urgency. The emphatic statement "I am Tibetan" is a powerful assertion of how the people identify themselves. In the statements there is no sense at all of being"a minority". Young Taiwanese Voters Worried About Jobs, Not China
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me As election day fast approaches in Taiwan, the two presidential candidates are targeting young voters and attempting to appeal to their concerns. And the issues are plain: they want good jobs and better wages. For young voters, these immediate economic concerns are above the hot button issue of cross-strait relations with China. With Taiwan's presidential election on Saturday, the race between opposition candidate Tsai Ing-wen and incumbent Ma Ying-jeou is neck-and-neck. The camps of the two candidates are furiously competing for the votes of a key demographic%mdashyoung, first-time voters aged 20 to 24. Political debate in Taiwan has traditionally been dominated by the question of Taiwan's identity and relations with Mainland China. The Chinese Communist Party sees the self-ruled Taiwan as a renegade province that should be reunited with the Mainland by force if necessary. But for young Taiwanese voters, it's jobs and wages at the top of their list of concerns. [You Chieh-an, Tsai-Ing-wen Supporter]: "I think the biggest problem is unemployment. I graduated two to three years ago, and most of my university classmates are either jobless, or working for low wages. This is why I think we could give the chance to a new president."
