two years after he gunned down a young, aspring artist.. an albuquerque man finally learns his fate. joseph espinoza was sentenced this afternoon for the 2008 murder of lawrence vargas. kayla anderson has the story. "i ask the vargas family, with everything in me that one day they can forgive me. i am sorry. i'm not a cold blooded killer, a heartless person." joseph espinoza will spend the next 15 years behind bars for the murder of 23- year-old lawrence vargas... a young, aspiring artist... who before his life was cut short... was gaining national attention for his work. "he ended a life that was filled with promise. your honor, he was too young to die. there will be no wedding of his own, no wife and children of his own." "i have to remember that night. i have to remember waking up, coming home to hear my parents say that my brother's gone. and this guy did it." espinoza shot and killed vargas in a downtown parking garage back in 2008. it was later determined vargas was an innocent bystander. his best friend-- who was with him that night-- spoke in court today.
