The Big Sleep is a Brooklyn, NY based trio, comprised of Danny (guitar), Sonya (bass) and Gabe (drums). They formed somewhere around 2003. In February 19, 2008, the band released Sleep Forever, follow-up to their debut album Son Of The Tiger, released September 19, 2006. The Big Sleep will release a new album called "Nature Experiments", which will be out on January 31, 2012. Considering how quiet they've been over the past couple years, you'd think the Big Sleep decided to suddenly take their name seriously after the tireless tour cycle behind 2008's Sleep Forever LP. The truth is much simpler... "We took a little break, worked on stuff separately and just lived our lives," explains bassist/vocalist Sonya Balchandani. "It obviously took longer than we thought it would," adds guitarist/vocalist Danny Barria, "but I wasn't feeling rushed or pressured. I just wanted to write good songs." Which brings us to the hefty hooks and sugar-spun noise pop of Nature Experiments, the filler-free full-length Danny and Sonya have hinted at since 2000. Julian Treasure is author of the book Sound Business, the first map of the exciting new territory of applied sound for business, and he has been widely featured in the world's media, including The Economist and The Times. He is an international speaker on sound and listening, and is one of very few people with three talks on TED.com.
Julian is chairman of The Sound Agency, a UK-based consultancy that helps companies achieve better results by optimizing the sound they make in every aspect of business for example, bringing sound in branding and marketing communication into congruence with visuals, or designing and installing effective soundscapes for branded spaces such as shops, offices, and corporate receptions.
Julian's vision is to make the world sound beautiful, by helping individuals to listen consciously and companies to discover that good sound is good business. Julian was educated at St Paul's School, London and at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.
