Des Plaines Mayor and Candidate for State Rep in the 55th District is interviewed by Commissioner Frank Avila and Salman Aftab of the American Muslim Task Force. Meet Marty Moylan Having lived in Des Plaines for over 25 years, Mayor Marty Moylan has always been involved in making Des Plaines a strong and vibrant community centered on working class family values. Moylan was elected to serve as the mayor on April of 2009. Prior to the mayoral election, Moylan served as Alderman of the 2nd Ward of Des Plaines. Marty Moylan learned the importance of leadership and service at an early age. As a result of his father’s premature passing, Marty – the oldest of 13 children – had his leadership abilities put to the test while helping his mother raise his 12 younger siblings during challenging times. It was through this early experience that Moylan learned the importance of integrity, hard work, living within your means and service. Moylan attended St. Angela’s grammar school, graduated from St. Philips High School, and attended the University of Illinois. While growing up, Moylan was a member of the North Austin Boys Club where he participated in football, baseball, and boxing. Moylan has more than 40 years of experience in the construction industry, specializing in the electrical field. As the former electrical inspector and Deputy Director of the Des Plaines Building Department, Moylan helped transform the department into a user-friendly agency. Currently, Moylan serves as a Business Representative for IBEW Union Local 134. Moylan is passionate in solving the community’s most pressing challenges while creating opportunities in making Des Plaines a world class suburb. As mayor, Moylan works tirelessly on issues affecting the families of Des Plaines. From public safety policies and economic development initiatives to quality of life issues and government reform, Moylan’s leadership has made a difference for all Des Plaines residents. Moylan actually rolls his sleeves up and gets the job done for the community. Mayor Marty Moylan is married to Lisa and is the proud father of Colt -- who graduated from Maine West Township High School and is following in his father’s footsteps as an apprentice electrician.

So, (enter winning team’s name here) won the NCAA Men’s National Championship. Seriously, I’m not waiting up for this game. I don’t understand who makes a start time of 9:23pm. Here’s a quick recap, the game started, than there was halftime, than it ended, and than everyone couldn’t believe that CBS still uses that awful song “One Shinning Moment.” But (enter winning team’s name here) played really hard and in these types of games its a shame that someone has to lose. There are none classier than New York Yankees fans. Let’s start with the ladies. Did she really just waste a $12 beer. It doesn’t get much dumber than this. Oh, it does. Do you know the name Kris Humphries ? He plays for the New Jersey Nets and is probably better known for being the current boyfriend of Kim Kardashian . Well the Nets have started a campaign called “The Incredible Hump” to get people to vote for Humphries for NBA’s most improved player and for the all-defensive team. Since he’s with Kim Kardashian who is world famouse for her backside, wouldn’t a better nickname be the “Incredible Dump Hump?” I’m just saying. Congratulations goes out to Dennis Rodman and Chris Mullin who will be inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame. I never thought Rodman would get the votes to get in but definitely well-deserved. And Chris Mullin once said “thanks, big boy” to me when I was a nine year old honorary ball boy at a Philadelphia Sixers game and I rebounded one of his shots in warm-ups. By his tone and smirk that was his nice way of calling me fat. You win again, Mullin.
