The votes are in, and the three finalists for the 21st Century Choreography Competition are Heather Maloy (Asheville, NC), Alex Ketley (San Francisco, CA), and Ma Cong (Tulsa, OK). These choreographers were chosen from 29 artists who applied via YouTube and were selected through a combination of YouTube ratings and evaluation by BNC’s artistic staff. The three finalists are traveling to Colorado to create new works with BNC’s company. The final round of the competition is a series of six performances in April, with prominent guest judges from the Denver metro area and throughout the country. Join us for these exciting performances, and cast your own vote for our final winner. Meet Heather Maloy. At 17 she was the youngest dancer ever to be hired by North Carolina Dance Theatre, and she began her choreographic career two years later. Heather is the founder and Artistic Director of Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance in Asheville, North Carolina. Her work has been commissioned by numerous companies.
