Scores of bodies filmed in Aleppo massacre
Tormented relatives try to identify their loved ones in the courtyard of an Aleppo hospital after the bodies of dozens of young men and boys are found with wounds bearing the hallmarks of an organised execution. Syrian activists say at least 65 bodies, some of them with their hands tied behind their back, have been found on a river bank in the northern city of Aleppo. The head of the Britain-based Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdul-Rahman said the bodies were discovered in the city's contested district of al-Bustan al-Qasr. Video footage showed rows of bodies wrapped in blue shrouds, lined up in what was described as a schoolyard, with distraught relatives attempting to identify their loved ones. All of the dead were men. Abdul-Rahman said it was not clear who was behind the killings, when they occurred or who the dead were. Mali: French troops parachute into Timbuktu
The French military have released video which is claimed to show their troops parachuting into Timbuktu during the mission to reclaim the Malian city from hardline Islamists. A night-vision camera shows Transall and Hercules transport aircraft of the French Air Force flying over Timbuktu before dropping scores of paratroopers. French and Malian soldiers are now in control of the fabled desert city, following the retreat of Islamist extremists on Monday. France has deployed 2900 troops to Mali, while around 2000 African troops are also in action, many of them from Chad. Englishman is France's best cheesemonger
An English civil servant on sabbatical in France has beaten the French at their own game and won a cheese competition in the city of Lyon. When it comes to pop music, roast beef and discussing the weather, the British might be said to have the edge over the French. But when it comes to cheese, it is hard to argue with France's excellence. It must therefore have riled certain of our friends across the Channel when an English civil servant beat them at their own game to be crowned France's most expert cheesemonger. Matthew Feroze triumphed over 15 of the country's most talented cheese-sellers at a bi-annual contest in the French city of Lyon at the weekend. The 30-year-old, who took a two-year sabbatical from his London job as a government accountant in late 2011 to pursue his passion for French culture and cheese, is the first foreigner to win the Concours National des Fromagers at the prestigious Salon Mondiale de Restauration et Hotellerie. To do so, he had to shine in several different categories of the competition. There was a blind tasting of cheese, a task involving cutting slices of cheese to specific weights and, perhaps most importantly, he had to present a platter of cheeses he had chosen and matured himself. Despite his love of French cheese, Mr Feroze did give a nod to his British roots in this stage of the contest, including a cheddar and a stilton in his selection. His victory is all the more surprising because he has only been a professional cheese refiner ... From: telegraphtv Views: 253 7 ratings Time: 01:35 More in News & Politics

Police blast Belgian steel workers with water cannon
Police use water cannon as hundreds of ArcelorMittal workers gather in Namur, Belgium to protest against the closure of a factory in Liege. The workers were protesting against the planned closure of a coke plant and six production lines owned by ArcelorMittal, which would see the loss of 1300 jobs. ArcelorMittal said they had made the decision due to a fall in demand for steel in Europe. Protesters threw stones and other small items at police, who fired water cannon in return. The workers have agreed to return to work on Wednesday, following the protest. Mass bubble wrap popping record set in US
Students at a high school in the US state of New Jersey enter the Guinness World Record books for the most people popping bubble wrap at one time. A total of 336 students at Hawthorne High School took part in the record attempt. They were given two-minutes to pop as much bubble wrap as humanly possible and succeeded in popping more than 8000 square feet of the packing material. The event was held to celebrate the thirteenth annual Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day and raise money for Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newton, Connecticut, where 20 children were killed in a mass shooting on December 14, 2012. Bubble Wrap was invented in Hawthorne, NJ in 1960 by inventors Marc Chavannes and Al Fielding. "It was actually intended to be some type of textured wallpaper," said Ron Shellenberger, Sealed Air Corporation, manufacturer of bubble wrap. "Our inventors realised that it was great packaging material, and hence today it's become its own pop-culture phenomenon, where everybody loves to pop it for the fun and enjoyment."
