Colourful hot air balloons cruise the sky during Mexico festival
The 2012 Leon International Festival takes off with scores of hot air balloons cruising the skies. Dozens of hot air balloons decorated the Guanajuato sky in central Mexico on Monday (November 19) with and array of colours and shapes, ranging from the traditional teardrop to butterflies, bees and even Elvis. Pilots fired up their balloons to carry them high above the Metropolitan Ecological Park of Leon in the 11th annual Leon International Balloon Festival. Over the past decade, the festival has brought together almost two million people, according to organisers. Rihanna performs secret gig on release day of Unapologetic
Rihanna has completed the London leg of her 7 days, 7 shows tour" with an intimate gig at the Forum in North London. R%B star Rihanna touched down in London on Monday for the latest leg of her "7 countries, 7 days, 7 shows tour." Monday also coincided with the worldwide launch of Rihanna's latest album. "Unapologetic" is the Barbadian beauty's seventh album in seven years. She has been promoting its release with a short whirlwind tour, which kicked off in Mexico City last week and also saw the singer play at venues in Toronto, Stockholm and Paris on Sunday. With such a busy schedule, the singer had to hire a jumbo jet to make it to all her places in time. Some 200 people, including journalists, fans and her staff are also onboard. In London Rhianna performed at the Forum in Camden, which the singer had revealed earlier via Twitter. She wrote: "Ready for #London at The Forum tonight!" and later added: "limited tix left for @ Forum in #London 2 see me tonight. Get em FREE by showing up 1st now #riverisland #budweiser #htc'." With a capacity of just over 2000 the choice of venue is also a little bit more intimate as opposed to the huge arenas the singer could easily fill. Tickets to the sold-out event went quickly, but some fans still turned up in the hope to get hold of a precious pair. During the set the Rihanna gave renditions of tracks of the new record. The singer is set to head back to the US for the tour's finale in New York City on Tuesday. From: telegraphtv Views: 927 9 ratings Time: 01:54 More in Entertainment

Hamas leader holds press conference
Middle East correspondent Richard Spencer talks about the press conference held by Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal and a potential Gaza ceasefire. Khaled Meshaal, the exiled leader of the Palestinian group Hamas, has said at a press conference that Israel must halt what he described as its attack on the Gaza strip and lift the blockade of the Palestinian territory in exchange for a truce. The truce, which Meshaal said the Israeli government was seeking, is being mediated by Egypt in an effort to bring an end to six days of fighting between the two sides. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has also been in Egypt to encourage further peace talks in the region. Dutch PM: Prince Friso's life still in danger after avalanche
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte says Prince Friso is in critical condition in hospital after he was buried in an avalanche while skiing off piste in the Austrian Alps. Dutch Prince Johan Friso, who has been in a coma ever since he was buried in an avalanche while skiing earlier this year, has shown occasional signs of minimal consciousness, the government has said. Queen Beatrix's 44-year-old middle son, who gave up his right to the throne a decade ago, was skiing off-piste near Lech in the Austrian Alps in February, when he was caught in an avalanche. Prince Friso was trapped under the snow for 25 minutes before he was pulled out unconscious. His doctors said his brain was starved of oxygen while he was under the snow which resulted in a cardiac arrest that lasted 50 minutes. He was later flown to London, where he remains, for treatment, but doctors said he had suffered severe brain damage and might never come out of a coma. He has recently shown "occasional signs of minimal consciousness", the royal family and the prince's wife said in a statement released by the government, although they did not give any details and added that the prognosis remains very uncertain. Cape Town man guilty of Anni Dewani murder
A South African court has found a man guilty of murdering a 28-year-old Anni Dewani on her honeymoon in Cape Town in November 2010. Cape Town High Court Judge Robert Henney on Monday found Xolile Mngeni guilty of killing honeymooner Anni Dewani from Sweden. Mngeni's co-accused, Mziwamadoda Qwabe and Zola Tongo, are already both behind bars after pleading guilty to the roles they played in Ms Dewani's murder. Ms Dewani, 28, was shot when the taxi the couple were travelling in was hijacked in the Gugulethu township on the outskirts of Cape Town in November 2010. The judge says the state has proven its case beyond reasonable doubts. Xolile Mngeni, who is suffering from a brain tumour, has been quiet and unemotional throughout court proceedings. Israeli air strike hits Gaza media centre
A senior Islamic Jihad commander is among those killed in the second Israeli air strike on an international media centre in Gaza in as many days. Ramez Harb, who is understood to have been killed in the strike, was a leading figure in Islamic Jihad's militant wing, the al-Quds Brigades. Witnesses said the tower block, which houses international media, was hit by at least three missiles, sending debris flying into the street below. It is thought that Israel was targeting a computer shop in the building, which most journalists had left after an initial strike on Sunday. Tony Blair meets Israel's Peres for Gaza talks
Middle East envoy Tony Blair holds talks with Israeli President Shimon Peres as cross-border fire between Israel and Gaza militants continues for a sixth day. Tony Blair said: "If rockets are fired out of Gaza by Hamas or other militants in Gaza and aimed at Israeli towns and villages with the express purpose of killing Israeli civilians, the government of Israel is going to retaliate and the Israeli people will expect them to do so. "So the most important thing is we stop the rockets from coming out, the retaliation can then stop, we get some ceasefire or calm into the situation and then work out a better way forward, but we should be in no doubt at all, if this carries on escalating, it's going to have an impact not just in Gaza and Israel and the Palestinian Territories, but right across the whole of the region." He added that: "The last thing this region needs at this moment in time is more upheaval." Read more: www.telegraph.co.uk From: telegraphtv Views: 1010 28 ratings Time: 01:07 More in News & Politics

Barack Obama meets Aung San Suu Kyi in Burma
US President Barack Obama says his historic visit to Burma, also known as Myanmar, marks the next step in a new chapter between the two countries. Speaking after a private meeting with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Mr Obama, who is the first sitting US president to visit the former pariah state, said he has seen encouraging signs of progress in the country in the past year. Those signs, he said, included Ms Suu Kyi's release from house arrest and her election to parliament. Fillon and Cope both claim victory in French opposition leader election
The battle to succeed Nicolas Sarkozy as leader of the centre-right UMP party took a farcical turn with both Francois Fillon and rival Jean-Francois Cope claiming the crown. Jean-Francois Cope, the party's firebrand secretary-general, was more than 3000 votes ahead of the moderate Francois Fillon, with some 155000 ballots counted from the election among the party's 300000 members. With the outcome still unclear, the surprise of the night was the higher-than-expected score of Mr Cop%eacute, 48, who was expected to finish well behind Mr Fillon, 58. Last night members of the Cop%eacute camp in the southern Alpes Maritimes departement claimed the vote had been the victim of "irregularities" - an allegation dismissed as "insulting" by supporters of Mr Fillon. The mood was turning amid claims of voter irregularities, with a possible recount looming in Nice. The tension was reminiscent of the 2008 Socialist Party's leadership contest in which Martine Aubry, the mayor of Lille, beat S%eacutegol%egravene Royal, the one-time presidential candidate by just 42 votes, with both sides complaining of irregularities and threatening legal action. The electoral farce came at what could be tumultuous few days for the centre-Right, as Mr Sarkozy is expected to appear before an anti-corruption judge in Bordeaux any day now. He could be placed under investigation as part of a probe into illegal party funding from France's richest woman, Lilianne Bettencourt. Read more: www.telegraph.co.uk Get the latest headlines www ... Gaza children killed in Israeli airstrike
At least seven members of the same family, including four children, were killed when an Israeli missile struck flattened the three-storey building in Gaza City's Nasser neighbourhood, the highest civilian death toll in a single incident during five days of fighting. Among the dead were a man, two women and four children, all of whom were from the al-Dallu family, said spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra. A 70-year-old woman, also believed to be from the same family, and a 22-year-old man were also killed, he said. At least 20 people were injured in the strike, which flattened the three-storey building in Gaza City's Nasser neighbourhood. Barack Obama: Israel has right to defend itself
President Barack Obama on Sunday defended Israel's airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, but he warned that escalating the offensive with Israeli ground troops could deepen the death toll and undermine any hope of a peace process with the Palestinians. "Israel has every right to expect that it does not have missiles fired into its territory," President Obama said at the start of a three-nation tour in Asia. "If that can be accomplished without a ramping up of military activity in Gaza, that's preferable," he said. "It's not just preferable for the people of Gaza. It's also preferable for Israelis, because if Israeli troops are in Gaza, they're much more at risk of incurring fatalities or being wounded." Mr Obama's comments came as Israel's campaign against Hamas militants in Gaza blasted into its fifth day. Israel is at a crossroads of whether to launch a ground invasion or pursue Egyptian-led truce efforts, and Mr Obama sought to clearly defend the US ally's military rights while pushing for a halt in the violence.
