This is Taien Ng-Chan's participation in Youth Poetry Week 2009 - April 6 to 12th with her video poem ORANGE. Taien Ng-Chan's creation called Orange, was taken from her book Maps of Our Bodies & the Borders We Have Agreed Upon (Cumulus Press/Conundrum Press). This videopoem is a word/music collaboration between writer Taien Ng-Chan and musician Scott W. Gray of The Sally Fields, featuring a contribution by cartoonist/animator Joe Ollmann. Please visit the author's website for more info at www.soyfishmedia.comApril is National Poetry Month (NPM) and throughout the month, The League of Canadian Poets (LCP) will be featuring several renowned poets who will present a series of readings in several cities across Canada. The theme for our 11th anniversary is PLANET POETRY and artists and NPM participators will be encouraged to discuss and elaborate on themes of poetry related to the planet, land, culture, nature and how we define Canada. Poetry Planet is for everyone. It will include all perspectives from the very first Canadian artists, Aboriginal Peoples to today’s youth whose art reflects the diversity of the land and languages of Canadian landscapes and cultural climates. Poetry that is everywhere. Themes will touch on natural phenomena, conservation, ecological knowledge, peaceful and respectful interaction with nature, a holistic view of the environment and how these principles can lead us towards an inspiring path.
