Jet Plummets to the Ground
Indonesian authorities are still trying to determine the cause of Thursday's jet crash while the country's air force is adamant that the plane was in top condition. Agung Sasongkojati (Indonesian Air Force spokesperson) "The plane was flight worthy and we are still using this model," said at a press briefing after the crash. The turboprop Fokker-27 crashed in a residential area at around 02:45 Thursday morning local time, just as it was about to finish a routine 90 minutes flight. "All seven on board were killed, three people from the houses have also perished," Agung Sasongkojati said. The three killed on ground were 2 toddlers and their nanny. At least 10 other people were found suffering severe burns. The wounded and the bodies were brought to the nearby military hospital, for treatment and the grim task of identifying the bodies. This crash is the latest in a string of air accidents in Indonesia. With a sprawling archipelago, the country relies heavily on air transport but has one of the world's poorest ...
