Hours later another bomb explodes, killing two people. Colombian police successfully deactivated a car bomb in Bogota on Tuesday after residents alerted authorities of a suspicious vehicle. The discovery came just hours before another bomb exploded in Bogota, killing at least two people. Neighbors said they noticed the vehicle after it was apparently abandoned on the street after 5:00 am Tuesday morning. Police safely deactivated the bomb using a controlled explosion. [General Luis Martinez, Commander, Bogota Metropolitan Police]: "It had inside approximately 125 or 130 bars of explosives, shrapnel and metal. It was going to be activated via cell phone; it had 3 phones plugged into the explosives. Fortunately, thanks to the expertise and skill of our men, we were able to deactivate it and the situation is under control." Authorities said they had not ruled out the involvement of Colombia's leftist guerrilla group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
