96-Year-Old Indian Villager Could be World's Oldest Dad
96-year-old Ramajit Raghav improves his record of being oldest person to father a child after his wife gives birth to a baby boy in Sonipat district of India's northern Haryana state on October fifth. Full story: In a small town on the outskirts of the Indian Capital, Ramajit Raghav became the proud father of his second son, and possibly the oldest man in the world to father a child. At the age of 96, he says he is hoping to go down in history. At 50 years old, Raghav's wife gave birth to their baby boy in India's northern Haryana state on October 5th. The couple initially became famous in 2010 when, at 94, Raghav fathered his first born son. Raghav credited his celibate life for his current vitality, saying he did not take any aphrodisiacs. He says he remained a bachelor and was celibate until he met his wife about 10 years ago. He termed the birth of his second son a miracle and an act of God. When asked if he conceived his son through sex, he said: [Ramajit Raghav, 96-Year-Old Father]: "Yes. I just prayed to God to complete my family, either a boy or girl. My elder son's name is Vikramajeet and the new born's name is Ranjeet." The newly born baby is said to be in good health with no obvious signs that his parent's age was unusual. Can Chocolate Voting Predict Election Results?
US Presidential Election results won't fail to satisfy as a French confectioner offers chocolate lovers a unique way of choosing their new President -- through chocolate voting. Full story: What does chocolate and politics have in common? A lot - says French luxury sweets maker "Paris Chocolat", who believes that they can predict the outcome of the upcoming US presidential election. For the occasion the company created a special election box filled with chocolate incarnations of President Obama and candidate Mitt Romney. Every time somebody buys a box, they can vote for their candidate online. Owner Eric Monterrat has done a similar promotion for the French elections earlier this year and says the results were astonishing. [Eric Monterrat, Owner of Paris Chocolat]: "This straw poll is credible because when we (made the chocolates) for the French election, (our results) were very close to the real vote. Today, we are directly in correlation with what is happening." So we went online to check the chocolate voting results so far... and it was in great favor of President Obama. Out on the streets the opinions were more mixed. The two candidates are currently neck and neck in opinion polls with only three weeks remaining until one of them will savor the sweet taste of victory. Kunsthal Museum Sees Largest Art Theft in Years
Paintings by Picasso, Monet, Mattisse and other famous modern artists stolen from Rotterdam's Kunsthal Museum in one of the art world's most dramatic thefts in recent years. Full story: Dutch police reported a daring art theft from Rotterdam's Kunsthal museum on Tuesday evening. The thieves made off with paintings by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Lucian Freud, and Meyer de Haan. [Roland Ekkers, Spokeman, Rotterdam Police Department]: "Somewhere after three o'clock on Tuesday morning we got a report of the break-in in the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam. After the police arrived, we found out that seven paintings were stolen." Neither the police nor the Kunsthal Museum were immediately able to put a value on the stolen paintings, but they are rumored to be in the millions. When asked how the thieves were able to steal the paintings, the Police Department Spokesman said he didn't know. [Roland Ekkers, Spokeman, Rotterdam Police Department]: "The alarm system in the Kunsthal was supposed to be state of the art so we have got no reason to believe that it is not. But somehow the people responsible for this found a way in and a way out and they found time to take seven paintings. So that's something that is part of our investigation right now." The Kunsthal Museum does not have its own art collection. Instead it exhibits different types of art, including photos, sculptures, design, and fashion. It had only just opened a new modern art exhibit a few days ... From: NTDTV Views: 1 0 ratings Time: 01:29 More in News & Politics

Rolling Stones Star Auctions off His Past
Jo Wood, the ex-wife of Rolling Stones member Ron Wood, prepares an auction of items collected during their marriage. Full story: Ronnie Wood, guitarist for the Rolling Stones, will have some of his former items sold at an auction by his ex-wife, Jo Wood. Though resistant to the idea at first, he is now accepting of the idea, according to Jo. [Jo Wood]: "It's all fine now. We're all fine now. He's a bit of a hoarder, so when he saw everything there, he was like...but, no, we're all fine. We sorted it all out." Soon after the auction was announced in September, Ron Wood released a statement stating that some items were not his ex-wife's to sell, making it clear he was not part of the process. Among the items are Rolling Stones memorabilia from his near-four decade time as a member of the band. That includes a Fender Stratocaster guitar, which is expected to fetch over 50 thousand dollars. Ron and Jo Wood separated in 2008 with their divorce finalized in 2011 after 24 years of marriage. The auction will be held on October 27 at Julen's Auction in Beverly Hills. The total haul is expected to be between 300 and 500 thousand dollars; Jo Wood has said a portion of the sales will go to music charity MusiCares. When asked about the visitor's intentions, the Hospital Director said he didn't think Malala was in danger. [Dave Rosser, Hospital Director]: "I really couldn't speak for that I'm afraid. China Focus - Controversy Over Mo Yan and the Nobel Prize
Last week Chinese writer Mo Yan received the Nobel Prize for Literature. It's become a controversy because Mo is seen as a writer that's part of the system. He's a party member and holds a high-level position within the state-run China Writers' Association. But is it fair to ask that artists become dissidents? In a country like China, is it possible to award an individual without also awarding the system? And why is the Communist Party supportive of Mo, even when he paints unflattering portrayals of officials? China analyst Jason Ma joins us to talk about these issues. E-Cards Provide Food For Syrian Refugees
Syrian refugees in Turkey can now use e-cards to purchase food. Full Story: The United Nations World Food Program, or WFP, is working in partnership with the Turkish Red Crescent to provide food for Syrian refugees in Turkey. Electronic cards, or e-cards, are being distributed to some 25000 Syrians in the Kilis and Hatay refugee camps. The e-cards can be used at supermarkets, and are loaded with 45 US dollars. This is considered adequate to provide basic food needs for the card holder for one month. The scheme also benefits the local economy, and will be expanded to help more refugees. One recipient is Abu Naif, a 41-year-old construction worker who fled Syria with eleven family members, including his two-day-old son. Naif and his family now live in a pre-fabricated structure in Kilis camp. [Abu Naif, Syrian Refugee]: "There was nowhere to go because of the air strikes. The only escape was to go to Turkey. So, I took the kids and came to Turkey." The WFP regional director says the e-cards enable refugees to buy food without having to pay. [Daly Belgasmi, Regional Director for the WFP]: "WFP and the Turkish Red Crescent have developed this card, which is a kind of credit card where the refugees will go to a great supermarket, that we just visited, full of great fresh food." The Turkish government estimates some 100000 Syrians have fled to Turkey to avoid the violence, with the number growing daily. Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq are also increasing. Luxury Industry Slows as Chinese Cut Back
Sales of luxury goods are expected to tumble this year, as China's big spenders are cutting back. According to business consulting firm Bain & Company's annual "Luxury Goods Worldwide Market Study", luxury goods sales are set to rise by 5% globally this year to $275 billion at constant exchange rates, compared to 13% last year. Luxury goods sales in China are projected to grow by 8% at constant currencies, down from 30% last year. The report cites recent changes in China as affecting China's shoppers, who make up a huge portion of the luxury industry's growth. China's leadership transition and crackdowns on corruption are mentioned as two factors. Yet Chinese consumers still make one in four purchases of personal luxury items in the world. China has surpassed Japan as the second largest luxury goods market, behind the United States. Chinese shoppers now make half of all luxury purchases in Asia and almost one third of those in Europe. The report estimates that the luxury goods market will grow by four to six percent per year between 2013 and 2015, reaching $311 to $324 billion by the middle of the decade. Radovan Karadzic On Trial For Genocide
Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic on trial for genocide, says he should be rewarded not punished. Full Story: Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is on trial over his role in some of the worst atrocities in Europe since World War Two. Yet he began his defense on Tuesday by saying that far from being accused, he should be praised for his efforts to promote peace. Karadzic is one of three Serb leaders brought to trial in The Hague for war crimes during the violent break up of multi-ethnic Yugoslavia. In the conflict between 1991 and 1999, well over 100000 people were killed and millions were displaced. Prosecutors at the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, have accused Karadzic of being behind the massacre of 8000 Bosnian Muslims in 1995. He is also charged with being responsible for shelling the Bosnian capital during a 4 year long siege. [Radovan Karadzic, Accused]: "Instead of being accused for happenings in our civil war, I should have been rewarded, and here is why: because I did everything in human power to avoid the war." Karadzic is defending himself against charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, and will cross-examine witnesses himself. Bosnian Serb military leader Ratko Mladic went on trial this year, and former Yugoslav and Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic died in 2006 before the end of his trial. Rescued Sea Lions Return to the Wild in Peru
Peruvian environmentalists released three rescued sea lions back into the wild on Saturday. The release was part of a project to reintegrate the endangered species back into their natural habitat. The three sea lions, named Fiona, Felix and Flynn, were rescued three months ago from beaches around Lima. They suffered from a number of injuries believed to be caused by fishermen who attacked them. [Carlos Yaipen, ORCA Director]: "These sea lions suffered from kidney failure and were malnourished and dehydrated. We have followed protocols in order to return them back to the wild." Peru's Organization for Research and Conservation of Aquatic Animals, aka ORCA, has been working on the sea lion's rehabilitation. [Carlos Yaipen, ORCA Director]: "These sea lions were rescued three months ago. We have been putting them through the rehabilitation program at ORCA to work on their physical, psychological and emotional recovery." The most dramatic case was that of nine-month-old Flynn, who was found badly injured and in a coma after his mother was killed. It is suspected that fishermen were responsible for his mother's death although it is impossible to know. Ten month-old Felix and 22-month-old Fiona were also found covered in bloody wounds and malnourished. After living in captivity for the past three months these sea creatures are happy to see the ocean again. 9/11 Attack Suspects Start Pretrial Hearings
Pretrial hearings begin at Guantanamo base for the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center and four other conspirators. A week of pre-trial hearings begins at Guantanamo base on Monday for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. He is the alleged mastermind of the 911 plane attacks that killed nearly three thousand people in 2001. Also at the hearing are four alleged al Qaeda conspirators accused of providing money and other support for the hijackers. After a failed attempt to try them at Guantanamo in 2008, the five were brought in again on revised charges during hearing in May. There have been no hearings in the case since then. Many of the issues the court will address during this week's hearing pertain to secrecy issues. Defense lawyers want the judge to get rid of the the quote "presumptive classification" process that treats CIA interrogations of the men as state secrets. The judge will also hear media requests to keep access to the courtroom during the trial. During the hearing, the issue of whether the US Constitution governs the tribunals at Guantanamo Bay will also be discussed. The defendants are charged with conspiring with al Qaeda, attacking civilians, and civilian targets, murder in violation of the laws of war, destruction of property, hijacking and terrorism. All five could face the death penalty if convicted.
