"The Fence" to be screened at Arlington National Cemetery
"The Fence" will be shown to visitors to the Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery this Memorial Day weekend. The short film, shot along the Connecticut shoreline in 2010 and featuring soldiers from the 134th MP Battalion based in Norwich focuses on a family's loss of a son to the Iraq War. For Arty Cooper, the unthinkable has happened... he has lost his only son in the Iraq War. While he grieves and tries to heal, an Iraqi family moves in next door, dredging up his anger and prejudice. He reacts by shunning them and starts building a fence around his property, blocking them out... and his emotions in. But when his neighbor's young daughter goes missing and the community comes together, Arty Cooper is forced to confront his pain and fear... and finds that his salvation and her rescue comes from an unexpected source.
