Calgarian Samantha Savage Smith (apparently also known as "Savage", "Triple S" or "Triple S Threat") put on quite the show with her honest and engaging lyrics backed by a voice so distinct and powerful it can't be mistaken for anyone else. Savage's time spent in the underground indie scene was short lived after being discovered by Lorrie Matheson in 2009 who recorded her in 2010 and released the album "Tough Cookie" in 2011 which was distributed by Arts & Crafts. This podcast features the tune "You Always Come To Mind".

In Medias Res is a Vancouver indie-rock group that has earned veteran status for it's 12 year career. Their most recent album "It Was Warm and Sunny When We First Set Out" (2011) showcases the band's diversity and range as it sweeps from slow-burning crescendos to sweetly melodic lulls. In this podcast they perform a real crowd pleaser - an unplugged acoustic version of "Untitled New Track" (We called Andrew from In Medias Res to confirm the actual title for this track...But this was it.) While playing this song the band needed to enforce one simple rule…You must be at the very least on your feet if not actually STANDING on something.

Its always a great feeling to see our friends recieve recognition for their work, Craig Cardiff's album "Floods & Fires" earned a 2012 Juno nomination for Roots & Traditional Album Of The Year: Solo. Craig played an all folked up and edgy double-bill back in January and left his audience with something great to talk about. In this week's podcast Craig plays the song "Dance Me Outside" from his 2010 album "Songs For Lucy", he tells the story of driving through town with his grandmother giving directions from memory and asking how tall the trees are.
