Commitment Announcement: Maiyet in Partnership with Nest (CGI 2011) Maiyet is a luxury fashion start-up that is dedicated to identifying and providing market access to responsible heritage craftsmen that are both profitable and help alleviate poverty, empower women and promote peace in their native countries. Maiyet commits to build capacity for its partner companies and craftsmen, and has entered into a strategic partnership with Nest, an independent nonprofit organization, dedicated to collaborating with artisan businesses in developing economies through the provision of customized capacity building programs. Nest will implement these programs, which include: business training, product development and design expertise, production facilities and safety, access to materials, English and literacy classes, technology development, and leadership development. Maiyet commits to raise $2M in funding over three years to support Nest, and furthermore, Maiyet commits to purchase $3M in goods from select companies that benefit from Nest's capacity building programs.
