All metal parts on the AK105 are steel (I tested with a magnet) except the outer barrel. The finish of the AEG is nice - a flat black coating that isn't as deep or rich as the more expensive makes like VFC, LCT or Inokatsu, but very workmanlike anyway (and much better than the finish of the CYMA AKs). Despite being steel this isn't a weight piece, in fact I find it quite pleasant. I will, of course, be following up this very quick initial view of my new AEG with a more comprehensive review in due course... But, so far I am very VERY pleased with this Kalash AEG.
