02.28.06 As filmmakers, there are very few tasks that can be described as ‘easy’. Getting the perfect shot - not easy, casting the perfect actor - not easy, finding and dressing the perfect set - not easy... usually. So, naturally, it’s hard to put into words how happy we were when, one fine summer day, we randomly stumbled upon an absolutely picture-perfect old west frontier town built in the middle of nowhere. Of course, we’re planning on shooting our scenes at this location in the warmer weather... but in the middle of a Canadian winter, we still had to ‘scout’ the location, and plan out all of our shots to be sure everything goes as smoothly as possible when we had a dozen or so actors staring at us, expecting us to know what we’re doing. So, off we set in the midst of a blizzard to do a two-man rehearsal of all the action we would be shooting on our production day later this year. As dramatic as our rehearsal was for us, getting ourselves and our Chrysler out of our picture-perfect old west frontier town’s snow covered parking lot was a whole other dramatic event. Now that the feeling has returned in our fingers and toes we clutch our bellies as we laugh heartily while we watch these antics. Hopefully you will, too. So go ahead, clutch your belly, you know you want to. | Matt & Jeff Campagna
