Jun. 4, 2011, Dallas, TX, Andrew Mark Krippner, 20, better known as Andy, was born to Kenneth and Pam Krippner in Chickasha, Oklahoma on 4-22-1991. He was taken home to be with his Creator and Heavenly Father on 5-23-2011. Andy and four others were struck with an IED, in the Kunar Provence of Afghanistan. Andy had been in Afghanistan for 6 weeks and recently celebrated his 20th birthday.

Jan. 20, 2011 DFW, a charted flight from Dover, DE, landed at approximately 10:15 with the remains of SSGT. Omar Aceves. The winds were brisk and temperature was in the low 30?s and falling. The light rain and fog just added to the miserable weather. The plane taxied to the Corp. Aviation terminal and parked in front of a line of 1/2 dozen media videographers including myself. Also a delegation of Patriot Guard Riders of North Texas, a USAF Honor Guard, Ft. Hood Army 1st Cavalry Pall Bearers. Leticia his wife was escorted by SSGT Hawkins, an Army Casualty Assistance Officer, assigned to oversee SSGT. Aceves? return home. His wife also asked her pastor and his wife to join her for morale support. As the plane crew lowered the flagged draped casket to the tarmac, the Pall Bearers approached the plane and rendered honors. The casket was then slowly transferred to an awaiting hearse. His wife stood silently as she watched the dignified transfer of her husband returning home from war.

On Oct. 14, 2010 3 soldiers were killed after being attacked by insurgents in Afghanistan. With a wife and two children living in Colorado and a mother with two siblings living in Dallas, the arrangements for SSG Carlos Benitez’s return were chaotic. However, with the assistance of several members of the Patriot Guard Riders, we were able to compile a memorial tribute for this brave warrior’s family. This video captures the highlights of his journey from the DFW International Airport to the funeral home arrival, church funeral services and the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery for a military funeral. Last March we filmed the funeral of a Vietnam Veteran MIA Air Force pilot who rendered honors by an Air Force Honor Guard. The same unit was present and trained the Army honor guard pallbearers the beautiful Hang-step march (aka slow march). The funeral service of SSG Benitez was by all accounts the largest crowd ever to participate in a funeral service according to the cemetery superintendent. We estimated the crowd at 1500 people. The fact the funeral was being held on a Saturday may have contributed to the turn out, but ominous clouds kept everyone nervous. It sprinkled for just a few minutes twice and waited until after the ceremonies to let out a down pour and a couple of tornadoes nearby. The music at the end of the video is a classic Spanish song played at funerals titled Te Vas Angel Mio, (You go my angel), which was selected especially for SSG Benitez’s mother.
