Four monarch butterflies, raised by Ms. Michelle Turner's fourth grade class at Turtle Creek Elementary School, were released so they could "Migrate to Mexico" for the winter months. The class raised the monarchs from caterpillars. Throughout the year, the students could watch and learn as the caterpillars went through the final three stages of metamorphosis. Once in the adult stage, the monarchs were released to begin the 1,000-plus-mile migration to Mexico so the insect's life cycle could continue. Who knows... maybe the released monarchs will be back to Turtle Creek Elementary for a visit this spring.
