On August 9, 2011 Excelencia in Education, working with California-based partners, releasedLatino College Completion: California. California is the fourth state where Excelencia in Education’s national initiative, Ensuring America’s Future by Increasing Latino College Completion has focused attention on the current equity gap in Latino college completion and the impact of selected effective strategies to increase college attainment. The briefing was held with support from Pacific Gas and Electric Company and in cooperation with national partner State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) at their annual Higher Education Policy Conference in San Francisco. Ensuring America's Future by Increasing Latino College Completion is an Excelencia in Education initiative in collaboration with partners from diverse sectors and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Lumina Foundation for Education, and the Kresge Foundation. The purpose of the initiative is to inform, engage, and sustain efforts to promote the role of Latinos in making the U.S. the world leader in college degree completion.
